When someone accidentally bumps into you and then apologies, there is no harm and no foul in a polite and caring society. However, we are no longer living in a polite and caring society. Some people are not concerned about politeness or caring. In this word of billions of people, they only see themselves and everyone else is somehow in their way. What is up with Americans constantly assaulting each other on flights?
Stop turning a blind eye to ignorant behavior and the problem stops. The courts do little to make it stop. Law officers feel the same frustration knowing the person will be back on the street that night . A few weeks behind bars gets the attention of everyone and often is all that is needed to stem this type of behavior. Every time they offend, add another two weeks.It gets old quick.

This is not the P.C. thing to say, but here goes. Most people who behave this irrationally in public places turn out to have serious, severe behavioral health diagnoses. Until recent years, they didn’t even fly on planes.

I had a Karen ( hate to use that words but you will understand she lied wanted to disrupt peace) on my plane we where arriving from BNA to SJC. She accused me to the flight attendant I hit her face.
When I put my arms in my left neighbor seat. I was in so much pain ..could not take strong meds so I can walk and etc. .I said sorry first time she said I was aggravating her. Plane landed I need get my bags three isles or four behind me. I moved over across away from her to let he go. She was behind my left neighbor.
Excused myself and she was reluctant to go down the front door is right there she called me something but I don’t remember then I told her she was rude and disrespectful and she needs to walk her feet out the plane. Other elderly people asked if they want to get my bag and I said yes I turned around as the Karen left letting other elderly people out that were behind me in their seats gracefully. I kept an eye on her and my daughter picked me up and my neighbor to my left a male said “hey just want you to let you know everything was fine nothing was on you it was her” I told him thank you very much but I’m glad that we already landed and I didn’t want to deal with such a person and next time I will have my recorder on.

So sick and wrong on so many levels. Throw them in jail for interfering with an aircraft. No one should ever be attacked in the workplace.
I think it only makes sense that ANY assault on an aircraft, given the potential for catastrophic loss of life should it go down, should be treated as a felony. Air space crosses state lines, therefore the commission of the crime crosses those same lines and qualifies outright as a felony.
So you punchA someone on the ground you go to jail. In the sky they consider it? In the 70s, 80s and 90s, no one even thought about doing this nonsense.

The guy should have been locked into a small compartment until the plane landed.
Anyone who can’t deal with physical contact by strangers on a plane should never, ever fly. The aisles are so narrow and the seats are so tiny and the planes are so crowded that it is inevitable. And, nevermind sitting beside someone who is wide or in front of, beside, or behind a child. We are stuffed in there like sardines. At the very least, we can pray for a drama free flight.

I hope the flight attendant heals physically and emotionally. Such incidents easily leave the victim with PTSD. As a RN, I’ve seen the assaults on co workers for years and management refuses to acknowledge the occurrence nor do they support the victim filing charges. An assault I experienced, at work a few years ago, has resulted in having PTSD. Not a single manager asked if I was ok or if I needed medical assistance. Applause to American Airlines for supporting their employee.
