Police in Honduras have detained former President Juan Orlando Hernandez, after a judge ordered his arrest amid an extradition request from the United States on accusations of drug trafficking.
An arrest warrant for Hernandez “has been issued”, court spokesman Melvin Duarte told reporters on Tuesday afternoon, as the ex-president’s home in the Honduran capital, Tegucigalpa, was surrounded by hundreds of police pending a decision on the US bid.

If this president did the wrong things, it should be up to the local court (Honduras’s Court) to decide and make judgement, not the US. How don’t Honduras not feel humiliated if he is extradited to a foreign power and treated like a low-life criminal?

Let us hope that he can give an insight to the situation in Honduras. Maybe he was willing to turn himself in to break a cycle and talk about the true issues on why this whole drug thing with the money is playing out the way it does. I believe he might have been under pressure by other people, why else would he be willing to turn himself in, he must be believing to be a victim or seeking agreement on a topic.

As a Honduran I can assure you many people in Honduras we are hoping this would happen as most knew he was corrupt and had corrupted the system.
