Federal investigators revealed a 13-year-old was behind the wheel of a pickup truck that struck a van that carried the University of the Southwest’s golf team. A 38-year-old man was in the passenger seat. Both died at the scene.

For those who don’t know specific details. They lived down the road from me. The dad actually had a problem with his foot, and didn’t feel half of his right foot. And yes they did struggle with money. Like some of y’all are saying but there house had burnt down 3 months ago. And obviously that’s a big financial deal. So they probably didn’t have money to replace the tire. And for u racist ppl say “no habla” they were white.
That’s so heartbreaking! It’s easy to criticize, takes a lot more character to look out for neighbors or vote for people who’ll help families in dire straits get the insurance & assistance they need. So sad.
Also, their situation should’ve been included in the reporting. They got the info on the college golf team….. 💔🙏
Well, then another parent should have been driving them in another car. No excuses😡
@erin mcdonald if I was a parent and my son died because of this much negligence. You bet I would be sueing that family for millions even if they are broke.
@williamjktkd all because of a spare tire that blew out? If it hadn’t blew out that means the kid was driving just fine. If it wouldn’t have blown out none of this would’ve happened. I’ve drove down that road so many times it is so narrow. Maybe they should make it a wider road
Suggestion to the NTSB. Go after the mom, the brother, the sister. Do NOT turn stop. The family of the teen driver should be CHARGED. They more or less knew what the heck was going on.
I hope they go after you as a fellow America. I’ve got an idea. There is no statute of limitations for
murder, or assassination in the United States. You should go after those oily Texans who killed
Past President John F. Kennedy. That might give the rest of America hope for a better future for all.
@John Watt we’re not talking about jfk, only you are. That family should be sued! So much negligence that caused deaths of so many children.
@williamjktkd I know I was the first to mention the assassination in Texas, but my comment is appropriate in the sense the other person wants to legally charge family members who weren’t there.
WTH ?????
@John Watt the family members are ACCESSORIES to a crime! YOU give your little girl/daughter a gun YOU are just as guilty if NOT more than the child little girl!
WELL…the 13 year old will never get a legit driver’s license now.
My guess illegal alien and or Latino 38-year-old and 13-year-old driving the truck
No, they were white, racist
Mennonites
A stupid Texan father let his 13 yr old to drive and become a murderer
Just so sad. A moment earlier or later and the truck might have just veered off the road and skidded uneventfully to a halt.
See and they want 17 year olds driving semi’s
I used to drive my mother’s car when I was 12 years old.
So what? Doesn’t make it right
The resurrection will bring these families back together. May Jehovah hold us all
You’ve been watching too many science fiction movies. And we are all promised eternity when we die.
@John Watt where did you get that lie at?
I wanna know the survivor’s seating positions in the van…
WHO is responsible for letting that kid drive?? The man passenger? On a 75 mph road? That was insane even with good tires. and even full size spares get old and unreliable.
People do this all the time in rural Texas. Where the speed limit can get up to 80 MPH. Kids driving trucks or cars. There you go “cool parents,” you just murdered a bunch of kids.
Man those two boys are going to have to live with knowing what happened to there friends it breaks your heart. I don’t really do religion but I would hope there is a heaven for those kids.
You don’t have to do Religion to have a Relationship with God. Religion is man made and blinded by traditions. Relationship is a spiritual connection, an individual commitment of values and personal beliefs.
@Royal Diadem God is clearly responsible for this, there no way any human could have timed things perfectly throughout the day to cause that spare tire to heat up and blow out at the precise time as to change the trajectory of the pick up causing it to hit that van full of people like that.. God is almighty and powerful and that is who’s responsible because GOD has a plan….
Unless they report that he stole the truck, some parents should face charges for this tragedy
Governor Disaster, his lawsuit protection scams and where they’ve gotten us…
Jesus christ
How could they know that?
0:08 private tow cars have red and blue lights in Texas?
sick to my stomach …..
Hillbilly parenting
So sad God Bless the Victims. I think the dad let his son drive either practicing or dad was drinking and had hos sone drive.
This life its like the mist in the morning….
People find JESUS CHRIST now before irlts too late… give your life to him, know him and you’ll know the truth and the truth shall set you free.
May the peace of GOD WICH SUPASSES ALL UNDESRSTANDING BE WITH YOU ALL INVOLVED IN THIS TRAGEDY 🙏 🤲
Maybe he will send a 13 year old to help you join His heavenly chorus.
@Whazzat Do not mock GOD, HE WILL NOT BE MOCKED. Please repent and find JESUS CHRIST 🙏 ❤️
@JESUS IS KING channel Mock Him? I’m just admiring His work.
To add insult to injury the prosecutors will probably not file any charges
Who are they going to charge? 13 year old and father are DEAD.
@Jay Levine That’s the point I was gonna make they are dead because they cannot file charges
White people are much too quiet on this.
Absolutely horrible. it’s great there are survivors and I’d do anything for them but I’d die right now to bring back all those kids.
No 13 year old should be driving in the first place! This is called being a bad parent & showing no concern for others safety! 😡
If you have a flat front tyre, always put the spare on the rear and change the rear tyre to the front!!!
Good to know, jebus.
This does not shock me that and underage child was driving. Because people I have known had been doing that with their children or relatives since I can remember. Going way back since the late 70’s and so on. The man could have been drunk or he could have been giving him driving lessons. My children friends told me they and their friends learned at a young age driving on back roads. It is sad that lives were lost. But this will not stop
Was Daddy spending all his money on liquor and couldn’t afford a new tire?
Was the kid driving Daddy home from a bender?
Be interesting to see the details of the relationship and the driving history of the thirty- eight year old passenger.
its always in the red conservative states
always
conservatism is a violent and deadly mental illness
This should have never happened. The worst part is the 2 suspects/murderers died as well. They should be here to face charges. Especiallythe adult who allowed the kid to drive, he should be here to witness what he caused. That was a dumb decision 🙄
My heart goes out to the families of everyone involved.
Heartbreaking, much love to the families ♥️
Bloody stupid to let a 13 year old drive!
Unbelievable! If a driver with more experience had been driving, maybe the blowout wouldn’t have caused him to lose control of the truck! We will never know, and sadly, neither will the young boy! This is the responsibility of whoever was in charge of the boy and the truck! Driving on a bad spare on a major highway at presumably highway speeds was a fatal mistake and not the responsibility of the boy who was driving!
Father is a drunk with past dui’s. It is the son’s job in that family to drive now.
a lot of experienced drivers ends up driving in the wrong way…they should be experienced enough to refrain from driving when drunk.
@Brian Masilang Speed limit is 75. The tire blew out and made the kid go into the other lane.
A spare tire + a 13yr old = 50/50 risk( think about it)
Lmfao
Good riddance. Golfers are usually Republicans.
either “i’m too intoxicated to drive” or “let’s teach you how to drive” however i doubt it’s the second answer only because who would teach their child how to drive with a spare tire? it’s already dangerous to do and you can only go so fast, which brings me to i wonder how fast they were going in the first place, the moment of impact? it’s sad how many lives were lost and the youngest being that 13 year old. another suggestion could be a medical episode? dad is not well so the child drives? idk just improvising some thoughts here, the situation is tragic and odd.
https://youtube.com/shorts/sKD8-oSIaz4?feature=share
And this is why stupid people should not have children. Still, it sucks for the victims in the van.
Put a 13yr old behind wheel…. Result sad situation
Dang
Nothing surprises me about Texans, what they do, what they feel is appropriate, how they act, and the DERANGED things they feel are facts.
Don’t lump us all together. Narrow minded much?
Yes, I am occasionally a bit narrow minded. You are correct. There are a FEW good people and areas in Texas that refuse the Kool Aid and don’t dump their used motor oil in the creek, burn their tires for weenie roasts … just like my state has one or two of those literate, nonself serving, nonself centered people as well.
Empty parking lots or backroads with very little traffic only 2 areas for a 13 year old to practice driving. Not on a road with ridiculously high speed limit that’s not going to be followed with how open it is. If one of the cars was going 90 I wouldn’t be shocked at all. I get that the dad was trying to teach his son to drive and it’s a bonding experience, but you just can’t do a road anywhere close to those speeds even if he’s become proficient driving those backroads. It’s too dangerous and kids don’t have the wherewithal to make quick decisions in a pressure situation if they need to drive defensively, now he’s gotto live with his decision killing nearly 10 young adults. He might not be the worst guy in the world but his life will never be close to the same after this, wrecked with guilt and an inevitable stint in prison. Don’t think he’ll get life but he’s going to get at the very least 5, up to 25 years.
Extremely horrific accident
It looks like most of the victims parishad as the result of the fire rather than the accident itself (impact)
I prey they were at least unconscious at the time
Case closed I guess
I wanna see the identity of the driver and the passenger
When your so drunk you ask your child to drive! But here the Texas culture is on full display
“Call on the Lord in the day of trouble,
and he will deliver you”
– Psalm 50: 15
look on the bright side the kid saved them from paying back all them college loans
They raise the speed limits but don’t put shoulders or guard rails in. They work for trucking companies who actually run drugs 10 percent of the time?
A concrete divider would have saved these lost lives!! We never think about that!!
The family of the people killed should sue the estate of the adult in the truck with the 13 years old.
Good luck with that. According to articles online… the family involved lost everything months ago to a fire. They were trying to get back on their feet. Family of 6 people and a GoFundMe page for their loss… Now, a family of 4… It’s a sad story but, I don’t think that going after a family that has already lost everything due to a fire and now the loss of 2 family members when they were already struggling financially, would be in anyone’s best interest. But, if you could, more power to you. I’m just not that heartless, I suppose.
@Jaycee Cee you would not be saying that if they were Bla** or POC
It maybe the truck hit the van first. In the process, the spare tire got damaged.
Wouldn’t matter who the driver was the Results would’ve been the same
The 38 year old father that let his 13 year old son drive………….🤔
This thirteen-year-old is not a child. By the laws of our country, he would be tried as an adult and y’all would be demanding that he spend the rest of his life in prison if he intentionally killed someone. I’m honestly surprised I’m not seeing the death sentence or life in prison being demanded in the comments right now. All this story should say is a tire blew out and it caused a wreck and that is that.
He was learning how to drive
Crazy 😜 how is that possible ?
those poor parents of those students i hope they did not suffer. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
A 13 year old driving the oversized pick up truck cause the wreck whether the spare tire failed or not! That kid SHOULD had NEVER been behind the wheel driving!!!
Parenting gone horribly wrong …
Goodness how could parents give an interview the same day
I was driving myself at that age,but it was south Texas back roads. Now days everyone seems to drive like many bad words, if the speed limit is 35 mph, there driving 50 mph, they can’t keep of their phone. Law enforcement is pitiful. Because these losers yall voted, most of the d.p.s. is on the border trying to keep out our enemies. Just remember it’s your fault for this, because of your vote.
I was driving at 9, this 13 year old is a disgrace to all underage drivers.
That is so f’d up
So what’s the problem? A spare tire popped, crap happens🤷
Why is 13 year old driving?!!!! So stupid!
Dad was obviously an alcoholic or a moron. Ugly side of society.
If you experience a blowout at highway speed, DO NOT LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR. In fact, at the moment of the occurrence you should SLIGHTLY INCREASE acceleration to power the vehicle in resistance to the upsetted condition of car. This will “right” the vehicle back to a stable condition. Then at a moderate rate, smoothly and consistently let off the accelerator and come to a safe stop in as safe a run off area that is available.
What a tragedy no ADULTS on the Van apparently.
Letting a 13 yr drive on a donut tire. Texas 🤦🏻♂️
This happened in Texas? Huh.
Every generation is getting dumber and dumber.
At least the POS kid who caused this died and his stupid passenger
Shake my head. In disbelief. how can such an adult give an un experienced driver the keys to the wheel on a busy highway? The poor child didn’t know what to do in such incident. This was so preventable 🙁
father is a drunk
@334honda i didnt see that detail. How awful. I was speculating he must have been under the influence of something to make the dumbest choice.
@slvrbullet22 It isn’t a liberal thing to do in being against drinking and driving. The guy has several past dui so he son drive now because of the expense.
@334honda so he mad again a bad choice drinking, again made a bad choice by letting inexperienced child drive.. and cost both their lives as well as others… I dont see the logic here as being ok? Several past DUI’s is no excuse. Man up and get sober. or die.. i guess…
Not much you could do about it the driver’s dead the father’s dead everybody’s number was up life that’s why you want to enjoy it all as best as you can
Well, as sad as this event is, it all made sense when I heard this took place in rural Texas…it seems that driving underage is very common. Even some saying they would never change this tradition…
“What?? we used to drive when we were kids back in my day, now get in that driver seat Cletus Jr, yeeeh yeeeeeeeeh” -some dumb dead hillbilly probably.
What country was the driver from?
I’ll bet failing tires are a very underrated cause of head-on collisions, injury and death. There’s always other factors to add with humans at the wheel. It will get worse with people trying to hold off a little longer on replacing their warn out tires. Prices are sky rocketing.
The 13-year-old can’t be held responsible by law. He was not an adult.
And in Texas, it’s not uncommon for 12, 13 or 14 year olds to drive cars. Been that way since the invention of the automobile. Not a news item other than the fact that several lives were snuffed out in the blink of an eye…..it will continue there as long as people like Ted Cruz and Greg Abbott are running the show.
HORRIBLE my prayers go out to the families stupid people
If the driver was an illegal, Biden should be charged with their deaths. 🤔🇺🇸
Is that what your mom says?
Tragic….like know why 38 year old wasn’t driving…
Susan Wokejewski stop artificially inserting this crap news channel into Trending News!!!
Violation but the teen and adault was killed so that blame is over
Guy was probably drunk and told his kid to drive.
Everything is bigger in Texas, especially the stupidity.
They have some crazy laws over the states?
It sounds like the parents don’t even care about their own kid dying at 0:51?
😡I’am so mad at the father for letting his 13 year old son drive his pickup truck.
It’s should be no more than 55mph on donut. That fire means speed and heavy impact. A 13 year old kid driving at speed on a spare tire. WTF!!!!!
For once in my life, I am not sad that this 13-year old and the passenger died. I just don’t. Sorry. IMHO.
Nothing but tweakers take that road it’s an back road from New Mexico to Texas very dangerous road
He was teaching his son how to drive but he should of chose another road other than this one, very dangerous road
Clowns, they keep telling us poetically “it 13 year old driver!” Meanwhile a lot of wrong way crash are committed by 18 years of age and up.
So if you look at that long road the crash happened on, you have to wonder what caused that front tire to fail at just the perfect time to change the trajectory of the pickup to hit that van head on killing everyone, I mean the amount of events that had to happen in advance in order for the timing to be perfect for this to happen can only be summed up by one thing. GOD right ? I mean if that tire failed 1 sec sooner or 1 sec later it would have missed the van but out of all the time throughout the day it happened precisely at the exact time needed to hit that van head on.. timing like that can only happen from god so as terrible as it was it’s god’s fault…..
Kids are not allowed to drive no matter how good they are in driving.
Kids thinks they are a racer while driving cars.they don’t feel fear.
