Putin’s options are, wroom wroom phallic missiles near the borders of Finland and Baltic nations. Violate said countries air or naval space. Adios muchachos rhetoric. None of which is new. Or attack Sweden.
It is in interest of the two countries to join now than to delay till Putin reigns in his madness in this region. He’s potentially weaker now than previously thought of. And with bilateral arrangement or guarantee from other big-powers before final ascension to being a NATO members—-this is the time!

Putin refuses to recognize a war situation. If in this way of argumentation, NATO follows, there is “PEACE” in Ukraine
and therfore Ukraine could apply innediately together with Moldovia, Sweden and Finland to join as soon as possible.
At the end of 2022. Putin would face an immense but peaceful power of the west, showing him, he has NO chance to win.

There are some emotional and Even family ties to those parts.
But I think those voices saying we want those parts of Karelia or Viipuri (now st Petersburg) or Petsamo back are on extreme minority.
We are pragmatic people and we see realities.
Those areas are now integrated to Russia and trying to “melt” them Back in Finnish society would be too costly economically, emotionally, and hurting those Russian civilians WHO have built their lives there after WW2.

If either Sweden or Finland are intent on joining NATO then they could do a lot of good by announcing their intent TODAY. This would seriously undermine Putin’s 9th May parade, and increase the likelihood of his “removal” from power.

Both Britain and the US has promised Article 5 protection if they join. Plus the EU has a defense treaty that everyone seems to forget about.

I disagree with announcing Sweden and Finland’s application to join NATO on May 9th. That would only antagonize Russia. Rather, from what I’ve heard, Finland will announce NATO application on May 12th. (So far, I do not believe Sweden has a targeted date.) At any rate, I wish both countries well. May they each be well-protected by U.S., Great Britain, and France during this interim period.
