A sophisticated network of shoplifters raking in billions of dollars of stolen goods ranging from cold medicine to power tools is becoming a growing problem, police say. Retailers estimate organized retail crime cost them $68 billion in 2019, leading chains like CVS and Target to employ teams of so-called “corporate cops.” These investigators work with actual cops and federal agents to gather intel on suspects and even surveil them by recording undercover videos.

Sadly our weak government allows this to happen and there is little to no risk to the criminals. Punishments for these crimes need to be drastically increased and they need to give more allowances to citizens to stop this. When the deterrence isn’t there, the scum will take over.

I know some countries you could move to if you prefer laws like that. We need to learn how to really rehabilitate our criminals in our prison system. We need to follow Norways prison system to rehabilitate criminals because it works.
Hot take: Thieves don’t have to worry about loss prevention tackling them anymore. They know they’ll get away. If they do happen to get caught, they have more rights than the common law abiding citizen. There’s no real consequence.

@Jake Taz yep u see 👀 how walmart is falling apart rn they closed I think 150 to 250 stores and the one by me has had a clearance section now for about almost 2 years there now lowering prices on electronics almost as if there trying to liquidate there stuff

All the cops in the world will do absolutely no good whatsoever if the DA’s don’t prosecute and hold these criminals to account for their greed ! Many of them reoffend and are arrested again more than once before they go to court for the first time they get caught. They also (at times) are released in probation while awaiting trial for their second or even 3rd offence…
