Japan’s ruling coalition is projected to keep its majority in the upper house of parliament in an election held in the shadow of the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), of which Abe was a senior figure, and its junior coalition partner Komeito were on track to win between 69 and 83 seats out of the 125 contested in Sunday’s vote, according to NHK exit polls.
Analysts had predicted Abe’s assassination might boost the prospects of the LDP led by Kishida, an Abe protege.
Official results are expected on Monday.

Former secret service have analyzed every assassination of a political figure in Japan and there’s a history of them leaving this same weakness open. It’s like they are so complacent with their gun laws they don’t think anyone can get or make them. Shinzo abe deserved it. Typical corrupt politician who used mafias and cults to get votes. He was also a coward and an American puppet who apologised for pearl harbour even though the Americans did not apologize for Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
He did everything to kiss up to the Americans and NATO but he did not apologize to Chinese and Korean poeple who suffered under Japanese rule. He also allowed the Americans to use his country for military bases such as Okinawa.

Yamagami allegedly resented the Unification Church because his mother, who is a member, had become bankrupt after making donations to the group, The Washington Post reported. Japanese police have said that Yamagami told them he was motivated by animosity toward the religious group he blamed for his mother’s financial ruin, while a Tokyo-based representative confirmed on Sunday that Yamagami’s mother was a member of the church.
Abe did not belong to the Unification Church, but he did give paid speeches at church-related events, and Unificationists formed a reliable voting bloc for Abe’s Liberal Democratic Party.
Note, democracy means making deals with evil people with selfish agendas who control voting blocs.

He was a fierce defender of democracy and Japan’s allies including Taiwan 🇹🇼 by allowing troops to fight overseas.
– He knew the Chinese regime and how to deal with it so well. Even after power transfer, the former PM still had lots of influence on world stage.
