The murder of Pennsylvania teenager Lindy Sue Biechler has been shrouded in mystery for almost 50 years after she was stabbed 19 times and sexually assaulted in 1975. NBC News’ George Solis reports on how a huge break in the case was due to modern DNA testing and a coffee cup.

DNA technology is awesome! I got a kidney transplant and I just did DNA Ancestry again. I now have two sets of DNA. My own and my deceased donor who died from a car accident. I have been contracted by donor’s side wanting to know more about me. My donor’s older sister message me stating she got from Ancestry that I am one of her closes sibling and want to know more about me. She is thinking that one of her parents had a secret child! I actually dug more into Ancestry and found out that we are indeed related generations back but what really shocked me was my kidney donor parents we kissing cousins.

Obviously there was no DNA testing kn 1975 but DNA testing has been around since the late 89s and pretty much a slam dunk in cases for over 20 years…so whyd it take till now?
