@Just Drive We have more frequent tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in the Chicagoland area and even in the city. Also beach errosion along Lake Michigan (some areas it’s threatening lakefront homes) and less frequent rainfall but when it does rain it comes in the form of heavy downpours. No area is immune from the effects of climate change.

This is so true! My Dad and I were talking about it a few months ago. Unfortunately, there are a few issues that can come up: 1. having to deal with owners of private properties 2. having adequate funding. If it were possible an underwater tunnel system could be put in place; something similar to Japan’s ‘underground temple’ which is truly remarkable. I don’t know much about gas & oil pipelines but a system similar to it could be put in place, and as a start, these systems could be put in places that are prone to flooding.
