It’s a desert… the ecosystem their was never going to survive 40million people moving there… I feel like I’m talking to an empty room every time I simply say a desert dosnt have water. A desert can’t even support to grow grass and literally life forms evolved around the desert climate. But for some crazy reasons humans didn’t think they’d have too without causing irreversible damage to the ecosystem. But whatever the system was designed to get as much money from these desert regions till theyr completely unliveable and then just leave, and then “blame climate change”… and not themselves
Ooo and what’s best theyr been doing research that states all the date they used to decide on “how much water was in colorado” from 100+ or so years ago was totally wrong. When they took those measurements we’ve been basing the entire water economy of the west on, was taken during an abnormally wet time in the west. There’s been a mass exodus in California! Many Californians have moved to other states that are close to California! Yet the other states have to lower their water usage and California doesn’t have to change anything! Seriously a 0% reduction this year in their water usage. But they have less people there! Meanwhile places like Arizona Nevada have accepted tens of thousands of Californians and are not getting compensated for the differences in water. Talk about corruption at its finest! Keep trying to blame the drought for the water going down so quickly. Obviously no one understands evaporation rate surface area and water temperature. Otherwise you’d realize that the evaporation should actually be slowing especially when we’ve had rains up and down the Colorado River for the last 3 weeks. It doesn’t take a mathematician to be able to do some simple math and figure out numbers aren’t coming anywhere close to adding up correctly. NBC should probably spend more time on why 100 Biden gets to go on Air Force One on a presidential vacation with his dad after we have him on video breaking multiple crimes including possession of a firearm while intoxicated on illegal stuff since and in the presence and possession of prostitutes. What about the high crime rates and democrat-ran cities right now! What about all the actual innocent people who are becoming victims of violent crimes and yet this is all consequence of the whole defund the police movement! NBC why don’t you get some morals and quit trying to spread all the stories that fit the narrative that you want people to believe. People should start doing their own research and actually learn what history is. It does repeat itself and it’s a lot easier to find out the future when you know what happened in the past. I’m not expert but I’m pretty sure you need to have sufficient moisture in the air to seed clouds.
Archeologists and geologists know and have told us that the earth is changing constantly and sometimes dramatically. The fact that this is known but ignored and assuming things won’t change that is the true “human caused climate change disaster”!

Before Lake Powell and Lake Mead were created the water was much, much warmer. It’s weird that they are saying water increasing in temperature is a problem.

Maybe the media can stop turning a blind eye to the increase of private livestock on public lands over the last 30 years. Maybe then you’ll see the devastating damage of rangelands from overgrazing. Not to mention the thousands of wild horses and burros that have been viciously rounded up by helicopters to clear the way for even more private livestock, which sends most to other countries for slaughter.
Then there’s the tie in to our government being in bed with special interest groups like Big Cattle and Sheep (BLM) and Big Ag (USFS). Interesting how there BLM, Big Cattle, the ASPCA, the HSUS, and fake wild horse advocate group Return To Freedom pushed the wild horse extinction plan known as The Path Forward through Congress. Immediately after, Trump signed a huge beef export deal with the EU. Then there’s SOTI Deb Haaland , who fought to protect wild horses as a Congresswoman, but directly after her appointment she met with Rep. Chris Stewart and decided to follow Trump’s mismanagement/eradication plan for the horses. She won’t even listen to wild horse advocates. She just poses for PR photos. Not to mention her own personal tie to Big Cattle.
How about the media finally investigate THAT corruption when discussing what’s going on out West? Look into who calls the wild horses and burros “feral”, and dig deeper into the “science” that claims wild horses and burros are overpopulated. Here’s a hint…they aren’t. The BLM steals the land from the horses, gives the land to their buddies in Big Cattle/Sheep, and then pushes the same number of horses onto smaller sections of land. It only appears they’re overpopulated.
You could also check into how all of this costs American taxpayers HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of dollars. Money that could be used to help injured and/or homeless veterans, schools, cities with toxic water issues…
Just a thought.

you built a dam to stop all the water from rivers natural flow going to ocean or lake and built up the reserve.
The dam was already extracting from the natural flow of the river and now there’s a drought and the river flow is low that anymore extraction by holding back water in dams is gonna run it dry.
The Colorado is 20% smaller and Vegas is 20% bigger.

Ban lawns/grass. Enforce xeriscaping. If it’s not indigenous to the area and it doesn’t produce food, ban it.
Here is the problem:
When it is draught, and the ever growing cities in upstream draw more water, less water will be left for the dam to operate, and the dam leaves less water for the river and downstream farms to use water. This is called carrying capacity in Ecology.
imagine if everyone actually conserved water instead of like turning on the sink full blast just to rinse off a cereal bowl. we could probably make the water last a hundred times longer

The truth of the matter is, we don’t care! If we did, we wouldn’t put a price tag on methods of saving the earth from disaster along with debating the cost of saving the earth. We have collapsing bridges, brown tap water and failing sewer systems all because of cost. So again, we really don’t care about the water levels of shrinking rivers and lakes because of the cost of finding a solution. But the scary thought of it all is that our government would come up with something that will cost tax payers more and more money where well, look at the economy now. Basically, between nature and our governments, one or the other will do us in anyway.
‘Operational changes’… to a hydroelectric dam that’s water doesn’t meet the level required to generate power… hm… think it’s time for some people to acknowledge that the ‘operational changes’ are going to be ‘end of operations’ forced by… NATURE.
