FIRST: Focus on improving your natural strengths and interests – rather than trying to improve what you’re bad at.
I’ve seen, firsthand, that being EXCEPTIONALLY good at one specific thing, usually commands a MUCH higher demand and income, than someone who is just above average at a whole bunch of things.
So just think to yourself:
What do you enjoy doing and what are you good at?
And how can you turn that into a marketable skill?
Then, every day, play to those strengths – even if you have to teach and learn on your own, make an effort to play up what you’re good at.
SECOND: Practicing the habit of saying NO.
People RESPECT you for having the ability to say “No” to them, because not only does it demonstrate that your time is valuable, but it shows that you have the confidence that you know your worth and can’t make time for everything.
THIRD: Recognize that your time is your money.
I now treat every hour as if it’s worth a certain amount of money – and I won’t settle to do anything that isn’t worth sacrificing that amount of money. Almost every self-made millionaire is like this…unless they’re retired doing whatever, they’re treating their time exactly as if it’s money. By thinking this way, they can make decisions they know will be the best for the long term…and helps not waste time. I really challenge you to begin practicing this daily habit, too…calculate how much your time is worth during your “prime” hours…and do your best to make the best use of that time!
FOURTH: Make a to-do list the night before
And when doing this, make sure your to-do list is actionable and specific, so you can hold yourself accountable to getting it done. And there’s a term for doing this, called the SMART goal:
Specific
Measurable
Achievable
Realistic
Time based
When you apply ALL of this to your list making, and prepare this AHEAD of time, you’ll find yourself WILDLY more productive during the day – and you’ll just find a way to get more done. And think of it this way: the sooner you get things done, the more time you’ll have to do other things!
FIFTH: BUDGET
The entire point of budgeting is just to make sure you optimize your saving, and make sure you actually have enough money left over to invest and have the money make you more money. This is one of those things that, even if you’re a millionaire, you want to make sure you STAY a millionaire!
It’s also equally as important that, anytime you make MORE money in your career…that you keep your budget THE EXACT SAME AND SAVE THE DIFFERENCE.
SIXTH: IT’S LONG TERM
They don’t expect immediate results, but they can see the long term benefits of putting in the work now. So focus every day on your end game – and make it VERY clear exactly what you want. If you don’t know what that is…how do you expect to get there? So spend time, each and every day, just being clear on what you want and why you’re doing what you’re doing. You don’t have to have it all figured out, but you should know the direction you want to go, and roughly where you want to be in the future.

GRAHAM!!!! Serious property investment question. What are your thoughts on hotel room investing? I was just up in lake Tahoe and saw a listing for a few different hotel rooms listed for well under 20k. The quick bit of research I did was interesting, saying that most hotels pay 50-70% of the profit and if it’s in a busy area or hotel with good management it can be lucrative. I was thinking this could be a good way to get started with rental investing because of such a low over head. What are your thoughts? Maybe you could do a video on this??
Investing my time right: Not watching the 8 ads per video on “HOW THIS 13 YEAR OLD IS MAKING $5,000 A WEEK!!!”
Why are you using that mic instead of the yeti like in your GS show?
Because you don’t need podcast pode since you’re only recording yourself! is it correct to assume that mic records you better than the yeti if it’s jsut you?
LOVE the idea to budget UNDER your means! So simple, so genius!
Hey Graham, love your videos. Super practical and useful. Could you do a video on youtube sponsorships? How much they pay you, what to negotiate etc..I am really really curious. That would be super dope. Thanks for all your great videos.
Do a video on how to boost confidence to be in a sales job!! I have horrible confidence and I feel like I would be horrible at sales, but if I found a way to work on it I would improve and sooner or later have enough confidence to take on a sales job and be great at it.
hey graham, watching you videos for half a year now and I find them incredibly entertaining and helpful! I would enjoy hanging out with you some time if you ever visit Austria! (still figuring out how to start my real estate stuff)
Make a video on the best debit card???
Graham make video about Earnin app
Habit 7: Put your feet on your host’s sofa
I get richer every time I watch a Graham Stephan video 💰 💴 💵
Seen your commitment Graham to the long term.
How exactly do you mean that you hate spending? To what extremes do you go through to save? It’s kinda hard to believe that a person like you with a lot of income is still very critical with every cent, I mean, I love the content such as the 20 cent coffee, but, how exactly do you see spending, saving, investing etc., I’m not a business student or anything related to finance, but I would really like to hear your thoughts.
-Like button smashed from the Philippines!
This guy is simply brilliant. So much value from this channel.
The funny thing I realized : Poor people are always talking about spending (How can I have This item cheaper ? … I just bought a new fridge with a 50% discount Blablabla). Rich people are always talking about saving and investing.
Funnier : school doesn’t teach you anything about money.
Hopefully : Smashing the Like GOD was born.
Graham: smash the like button if you haven’t done that already
Me: no
7. Now stop watching YouTube and try to improve what he said to do
I just heard about SMART goals in my school yesterday, coincidence, or is the universe trying to tell me something…
😱
Taking advantage of the Audible program using Graham’s code.
I’m mediocre at everything.
What’s your reddit ?
I’m putting “Smash the Like Button” on my daily to do list….
Graham, I overall agree with number one. But then again, there are some exceptions. For example, I found it difficult to socialize with other people. If you cant network with people, you’ll have a hard time becoming successful. Even Warren Buffett had to improve on his social skills, so he attended Dale Carnegie ‘s lecture. You have to improve on skills that your weak in but are essential.
Great video!
HAHAHAHA #4 i really didn’t see that coming, smash the like button lol
Your ad placements are on point..
so what if you’re “naturally” passionate about something you’re bad or average at? what if you’re not interested in what you’re good at? LOL
Love your content! always excellent! thank you! 👍
I listen to audible everyday. Great service. Also thank god for this real video.
Jesus being a millionare is a job
HEY!! nice shirt!! good job on spending some money on yourself! lol
$500 an hour is astonishing. I need that
@4:25 This is very important and very true!
From a very early age we are taught to be yes men. So it stands to reason that it would be far easier to say yes and not rock the boat as opposed to saying no, I have a better idea.
Can you imagine our schools if our teens were good at saying no?
*_smashed it_*
Hey REAL QUESTION: If the recession came and everything was as discount. What would be your perfect 10-15 stocks portfolio????
Funny. Yeah, those videos are always so stupid. Audible is a ripoff, though.
I like watching your videos! I just discovered you a few days ago through the mysterious youtube algorithm.
It’s so satisfying to watch someone who has a lot of passion! Be it real estate, crafting stained-glass pokemon, talking about your ant colonies, it’s like the enthusiasm the person has is absorbed by the listener!!
A big thank you for all those inspiring videos! I enjoy your sense of humor. I find that watching your videos is slowly changing my money perceptions and expectations to a broader range of possibilities! Keep up the good work!
You look good in a button down.
Many Wealthy people such as Robert Kiyosaki, and Donald Trump, always advocate not to live bellow your means, and you are telling us to do the opposite. I am confused…
cringed a little during the smart goals part because the first time I heard about that was when I was in a pyramid scheme
I watch your videos and follow your advice to make money lol
Great video!!
Millionaire habit: make audible sponsored videos
#1: absolute advantage ayy? The sub-par economist Ricardo would disagree!!!
Being able to say no is great for sales. When you just flat out deny someone on a stupid request/bid/sale they do really respect you and it also gives you a great advantage
Very insightful video.
one thing you forgot, invest on your health and i mean health is not health insurance
# 1 habit? SMASH THE LIKE BUTTON!
“Naturally intrsted in money”, that’s going on my tombstone
Graham is the 🐐
I fucking love you.
This whole video is funny asf, especially the audible AD part😂
What up family showing love
That was so funny: “millionaires wake up at three o’clock a.m. every day! Read three books every day! Meditate 9 hours every day!” Haha, my cat is like, “why is the human laughing out loud?”
Graham, do you use a teleprompter? If so, can you give me a heads-up about which one you use, or how you do that? If you have already done a video about all that, I’ll be glad to just search for it. Thank you! I watch your videos every day!!! I’m learning a TON!!!
6:15 Graham, I WANT YOU TO EAT YOUR WORDS. “I now treat every hour as if it’s worth a certain amount of money.” SO!!! It’s not really a 20 cent iced coffee now, is it? 🙂 🙂 🙂
Save first, invest second, spend third. I always lived that way, even though I never made a lot of money, but never had problems with money or paying my bills. I hate to spend, I only buy what I actually NEED to survive. I’m cheap & proud.😀👍
A few that have additions and a few others not mentioned:
1. Always learn something new to improve your strengths and interest
2. Become a Minimalist (saying no to yourself on unnecessary items)
3. When buying a needed item buy it based the durability and quality
4. Carry a notepad and pen always for notes and ideas
5. Budget and in that Give yourself a set allowance of pocket money for the week
6. Learn how to save on taxes by taking advantage of all your possibke write offs
7. Keep your reciepts and write on back what business tax write off it has
8. Have your business buy your clothes as uniform for you as a business tax write off
9. If you need models for pics in advertising your business then pay your spouse and children. Have your business pay for their clothes, hair cuts, cosmetics. Those can be a business tax write off. The clothing can become a thank you gift from the business.
10. Stop equating buying or recieving gifts as a means of showing you care about someone. Instead give them the gift of yourself (your time and knowledge). If you must give a gift then give them a gift that educates them in their strengths and interests.
11. Always think it terms: Will it make me money, Will it save me money, will it save me time? Answer those 3 first in anything you do.
Did those give you any ideas Graham?
awesome info, smashed the like button ;P
Point 2 really hit home. This is the number one thing I need to work on because so far, this led to people exploiting me and my time. i didn’t want to disappoint my boss so I didn’t quit a job where I wasnt paid as much as I was worth
OMG I love his small rants about his comments LMAO
nice
I wish I can give you more than one like . Just the last 2 minutes of this video are worth millions. Eff the Jocko Willinks of this world!
I agree to all this…but then what do you do with the saved up money? what is the point if your lifestyle remains the same at 70K and 200K. I mean it makes sense if you are planning to retire early or become financially independent.
I think perhaps one is listening to a bit too much Graham Stephan when you notice things like, in this video he mentions that he does not have the patience to meditate, but in a more recent video he mentions that he is working with a meditation coach. Not a ding, totally respect the guy and clearly love his material if I am noticing this, but perhaps I need to dial it back a bit.
Great video Stephen 👍🏾 anybody else try to get ready for when he says “smash the like button for the YouTube algorithm”. It should definitely be trade marked lol #moneyteam
if you talked like a millionaire you would not be a millionaire… 😀 lolz
OK so wait… one thing.
If you’re naturally interested in money it makes a lot of sense that you’re rich.
If you were naturally interested in almost anything else this wealth wouldn’t necessarily follow. Sort of a fallacy here.
SMART. The R is Relevant. Realistic and achievable are one in the same.
If there is anything I learned from the D.A.R.E program is to say, “No!” and run away. Who knew it would also help me be one step closer to being a millionare.
The R in SMART goals stands for “relevant”, meaning the goal should be worthwile to pursue. Achievable and realistic is the same thing 🙂
Great video and seriously speaking my language with that ideal schedule! Love it! Why can’t we have 2nd shift millionaire schedules?
The video starts at 2:07
Hey! You forgot that millionaires make their bed each day. 😀
This was super helpful:) thanks
My Budget increases by 5 times because as I had increase my parents upkeep by 5 times the amount that I had first started. I had also increase coverage on insurance. Otherwise I am pretty much under a thousand budget
Graham got it… Habits many “gurus” suggests are not all practical. Just generic CR**.
Good points
Thanks for being a realist.
1. improve your natural strengths – what are you interested in and good at?
2. be able to say no
3. your time is money – treat everything you do with your hourly rate
4. make a to do list specific – SMART goals
5. budget
6. think long term

Wow what an eye opening video! Thank you 🤩😄
Make more fun of the gurus! This one is golden! 🙂
I’m a year late watching this video but I still enjoy it as if it were new !!❤️
Have the will and want
Persistence…most quit after failing once or twice. The ones who make it keep at it til they hit.
Persitence is the key. Be willing to keep doing when most slack off. It works.
All great points, especially for young folks. I’m an old man who’s done ok, and I can tell you these things work!
Great content
