The sheriff for Brevard County, Florida said 23-year-old Deputy Austin Walsh was accidentally killed by his roommate, a fellow deputy. Walsh’s roommate had been handling a gun he thought was unloaded when he pulled the trigger and shot Walsh. WESH’s Amanda Dukes reports.

Didn’t even half to watch the video just read the caption ! Friend jokingly pointed gun thinking it was unloaded, you never jokingly even touch a gun , and you never never put at anyone unless you plan on using it ! Come on. On now thought we learned this at like 4 years old !!

This sounds intentional to me. Even as a regular citizen whos only owned a firearm for 3 yrs i know to never point my gun towards anyone or anything. I always point that thing at the ground, take the magazine out and check the chamber. As police officers they know better then anyone else on how to handle firearms. This is very suspicious.
This isn’t a lack of training, its a lack of complete common sense.

Doesn’t surprise me. Ive trained with LE and i will say many of them are very poorly trained with their firearms. One officer told a story of how he shot himself in the hand doing something stupid like this… LE should not be given firearms without extensive certs. I am borderline to the point that i believe civilians should also be required to participate in extensive training and continued training to purchase and own a firearm… firearms should be handled by responsible, professionals…

My brother almost did this to me when we were young teenagers. I thankfully knew what the gun was capable of, despite him having already ejected the magazine, remembering the one in the chamber rule. Guns are NOT toys. Idiots who think they are shouldn’t get their hands on them.
