The nursing strike that impacted two of New York City’s largest hospitals appears to have come to an end after the two hospitals released a joint statement saying they’ve reached a deal with the New York State Nurses Association. WNBC’s Romney Smith has the details.

yee
I can tell you personally that Mt Sinai West is a great hospital. My sister was a patient there for a month. She got superb care. So, hooray, for the nurses!!!
Mt Sinai Queens not so much!😝
Next week doctors strike
only so much money to go around. Doctors will get released so we have the money to pay the nurses. You’ll be lucky to see a PA.
@Posi P those nurses are not going to save everybody without doctors. Nurses will be released as well
@Peta Thompson Nurses complain, Doctors move on and get paid. Having to take another vacation in Aspen, oh shucks.
Mount Sinai West is one of the great hospital in New York.
There are no great hospitals in NY it’s all Jewish garbage
Mt Sinai Queens is another story.
FANTASTIC JOB LADIES!!!
sexist!!!
Nurses are all ladies?
There are male nurses too…bias comment…think 🤔
And all Drs are men too right witch 🧙♀️
Great job in reporting the news, Romney. Excellent details of the events, unambiguous and concise. Kudos, Romney.
Good for New York nurses!!! Idaho please be next.
Really ? These nurses in NY have been making $200k to $300k the last 3 years during the covid dempanic. Their demand? They are back to their measly $150k and got hooked on the big dough. They want back on the gravy train.
Strike till they treat you like a mandated hero again. Stop working for dems that hate you.
They work at a hospital, Not a political party. Why are you so deranged?
more nurses = less doctors. This means less high-quality care for everyone in the hospitals.
@Posi P but where is your evidence that they’ll be firing doctors to hire more nurses? You don’t have any.
@toastybillionaire its called a budget. Evidence will be created in the next few months. Seriously, you can’t be this stupid, you’re playing.
@Posi P so you’re claiming something to be true that there isn’t evidence for? Do you realize how delusional you sound?
@toastybillionaire ok
@Posi P 🤦
Glad to hear
Why don’t they just do a tik tok dance? Clowns
Careful, your mask to hide your distain for the working and middle class is showing.
@Jack Sam I’m a rancher and butcher. You’re in a cult
@I got friends in low places You’re a cuckold for the elitists and their interests. Pretend to be whatever you want to on the internet.
@Jack Sam confession through projection 😂
@I got friends in low places Irony lol.
😍😍😚😙
Historical victory. Great job nurses!
What about covering the BOARDER? All the DRUGS that’s KILLING our children 💔 😢 WAKE ⏰️ up ⏰️ PEOPLE. There are no problems ONLY SOLUTIONS 😊 DISCERNMENT and INTEGRITY.
Props to the nurses that actually took care of the patients during this time.
@Sagittarius A* yes let innocent people suffer because they don’t have the balls to negotiate their salaries without making a show of it.
Just like teachers who cry for more, I have no sympathy.
They CHOSE to be nurses. They SIGNED AND AGREED to the salaries they were offered. Everyone has known for DECADES how hard it is to be a nurse. It shouldn’t come as a surprise when nurses feel overworked. I feel overworked 50 times a day but you don’t see me letting people suffer for the paycheck I agreed to.
@Trumpy Dog the employers are the ones with the power to make the changes, and they chose not to when the nurses told them what they needed. When the employer didn’t listen, the last resort of striking was the only way to make them listen at that point. If the employers had listened and given the nurses what they needed, no one would have ever been lacking care. You say those nurses didn’t have the balls to ask when they did just that.
There are limits to being exhausted from work. Would you want an extremely overworked nurse taking care of you, or a nurse who is getting at least enough rest taking care of? Nevermind, I know the answer.
If you think employers don’t need to be held accountable for having business models designed to squeeze as much profit out of their employees for their own gain, you are delusional. Bargaining power is essential to keep elites in check. The nurses pay their owners salaries, not the other way around, as you’ve been taught to believe.
@Sagittarius A* Who signed the contract? The employers should be held responsible if they have done something wrong, but these nurses aren’t protesting that. They are striking for more money when they signed on for the amount they make.
If they don’t like their employer they can go to another campus. It’s not the employers job to make life easy for them. THEY SIGNED A CONTRACT. Why is it the fault of the employer when they agreed to the working conditions?
I’ll give this much. If they were striking for more medical supplies or more staff, I would understand and support it, but that’s not what this is about. This is about money, pure and simple. Why is it perfectly OK for nurses to want more money but not the employer that hired them? Simply because of his/her status? Why is success such a damning thing? Without that success they wouldn’t have had the job to complain about in the first place.
Edit: I never said they didn’t have the balls to ask. I said they didn’t have the balls to negotiate their contracts before signing them. I, personally, don’t think anyone has the capacity to strike and win when the complaint is about their salary they agreed to, no matter what the job entails. But then again, we do live in a world where crybabies get the most hand outs.
@Trumpy Dog So, you are saying that no employment contract should ever be allowed to be negotiated after signing it? That is absurd. If your boss decides you won’t ever be getting a raise, despite the fact the cost of living goes up every year after signing the contract, it’s ok? How about, if population in the area of the hospital is going up and the amount of nurses you have can’t physically take care of the increase in patient, it’s still not ok for the employees to renegotiate a contract to add more people? Since you are concerned for the patients, wouldn’t you agree that it is better for the patients if the nurses have a real say in their jobs to begin with so the nurses don’t quit and leave the hospital understaffed, or even empty? There’s some fallacious reasoning going on here on your end. Also, it is telling that you think everyone can just quit their job (and likely have to move) to get another one. Because employers are so rarely made accountable in this country, another employer will be offering more of the same. What other choice is there when your needs aren’t being met and you’ve already asked nicely, multiple times? Oh yeah, striking.
You clearly weren’t paying attention or didn’t watch the video at all. One of the stipulations that they won is adding 170 new nursing jobs. So, your statement here is 100% false. All of the corporate mooks wouldn’t have their wealth/status to begin with without these nurses. (Unless they were already rich thru other means/old money/etc, ofc. In that case, they should give up their job to someone who actually needs one.) Why aren’t the nurses considered successful when they provide an ACTUALLY NECESSARY service to society? The answer is because we’ve been trained to view all people who happen to have money as automatically successful, irregardless of the actual material contributions they make to humanity.
I don’t know if I’ve seen someone have such a strong stance on something they have absolutely no idea about. Understaffing and underpay have been issues for nurses since COVID started, why do you think they waited until now to strike? The hospitals contract with the nursing union expired and contract offered by the hospitals was underwhelming so the nurses went on strike WHILE THEIR CONTRACT WAS EXPIRED and now got an acceptable contract and signed it. Typically a the union contracts run 3 years and nurses typically threaten to go on strike when the hospitals low ball them, usually the hospitals will make a fair offer before a strike would begin but this year they obviously didn’t.
Best practice’s, way to go Nurses stand up, speak Up! Especially with each contact keep improving making better day by day. 🎉
Who tm care?
Good for them. They’ve earned it. Especially in NYC
Now they can go back to dance routines and murdering people
When MBA s started running hospitals we are in trouble. Now start on the private equity groups that own ERs
In all aspects of healthcare we need help. These past few years have been very taxing and stressful. Please remember to keep the public healthy we ourselves need to be healthy. Good for these nurses on what they have accomplished for themselves and the future caregivers.
@Dustin I’ve seen it!! It’s facts! Hospitals don’t want to pay people overtime to make tik toks and make fun of patients. I can’t tell you how many videos I’ve seen of patients recording their nurses without them knowing and then being so rude and even abusive at times. We can’t expect all nurses to act the same and we can’t assume they all deserve the same pay or raises for that matter. It’s crazy how much things have changed over the years. I don’t like having young nurses. Very few I’ve met were nice and didn’t act like their world was ending cuz they had to work. I think half of them didn’t realize how much work it takes and think it means they need more. No this is what nurses do always have and was agreed upon by you when signing papers. We’re short on nurses because this new generation would rather not work and get famous off the internet. It’s sad.
@WB you mean you work in hospitals n have seen this or you mean as a patient you have seen this? Yes GROUPS of female nurses doing stuff to innocent defenseless unconscious male patients under anesthesia Is a dirty little female nurse secret
@Dustin both 😕 I was an cna 2 at a hospital for a bit I quit because it was like no one there cared at all. Some patients asking me for things the nurses forgot to give or get them…daily basis. Talking about other patients in front of other patients. And the rediculous videos of them clearly not doing their jobs. For complaining about not getting breaks they sure do have enough time to make videos!
@WB thanks for the feedback. How often did you see or hear of them doing stuff to unconscious male patients under anesthesia? Lifting gowns up n gossiping about genitals, and stuff like that. Or didnt you encounter that at the hospitals u worked at? Thanks again for your feedback!
@Dustin I did not see that as I was only a CNA2 so I wasn’t in any of the operating rooms. But the videos alone and the women specifically being rude and in appropriate oh yea. Some too rough with patients leaving bruises. It happens most just don’t think it does
My Daughter is an RN in the Emergency Room. She is underpaid, overworked, disrespected, stressed, threatened by patients, and unappreciated by the Supervisors and Upper Management. She has been exposed to all kinds of diseases including Covid in the very dangerous time before a vaccine. The Police use the hospitals as a dumping area for homeless and the mentally ill. I wish she had a Union to represent her. I belonged to a Union for 40 years and I absolutely support the right to strike.
Repent. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. John 3:16 KJV For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Luke 13:3 KJV – I tell you nay: but except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
John 3:3 KJV – “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
@matt75hooper oh I know that’s what I’m saying! I think sometimes it’s about knowing how to use your money. I’ve met plenty of people who blow their whole check in one weekend be it going out or gambling or over buying. Then to them they don’t make enough… There’s this view I think that alot of younger nurses have of what their life should be like. They see the nice cars fancy houses trips. Some think they should be making equal to Drs or other medical staff. Ive heard some crazy things but hearing a women say “I should be able to have a Camero if I work as a nurse” was just wow to me. I wanted to say ok then build your credit and get one making payments each month will build your credit even more! But of course it would do no good.
@Do the hokey pokey and get busy ehhh that’s illigal. If you wanted to you can sue. Unless you agree to it or signs papers agreeing to it. Otherwise they can’t go against their own contract they ask you can say yes or no. But don’t agree to it then complain about it. Your license can’t be taken away for taking a legal break.
@Hilly Bill right! 😂😂
@WB and how well do you think a nurse would do against a corporation. I’ve been a nurse for 42 years. A lot of thongs are illegal, doesn’t mean they don’t happen.
Reward them for being useless that will teach them NOT..
Their MOTTO : MORE PAY LESS WORK!!
You won’t be saying that when you need meds immediately.
When Amazon employees strike I laugh, when nurses strike I applaud and support them
good for them. just before i retired, the state of nevada approved 50 paitents to 1 nurse as acceptable staffing for a longterm care unit. facilities are never fully staffed, so those poor nurses probably went to work everyday facing more than 50 confused , wandering, and falling paitents. hope this is just the beginning for hospitals and other facilities to start listening to nurses! there’s more at risk than the bottom line.
50 pts???? How is this acceptable! Hopefully, they will feel encouraged by seeing what these brave heroes have accomplished in NY!
Now they can get back to making Tik Tok videos.
Do they still mandate the covid vaccine and booster shots?
Purge them all! Fire all of them! Wasn’t that the demoKKK(rat)s’ solution during covid? Just settle this the Joe Biden way and fire the troublemakers!
I’m super proud of the nurses standing up for their rights! Don’t allow these hospitals to use and abuse you! Remember, we can’t conduct our day-to-day duties without you! It’s our job to stand with you!

Join them all together from first to last and you’ll get her full United State number.

Thanks guys for the recommendation I really appreciate,I’ve got to her will be starting mine today.
7 mill subs but nobody’s watching hahah you had to pay youtube to force people to watch hahahahaha
Go Nurses!!❤❤
I rather have more money sent to support Ukraine.
Let the Ukrainians take care of you when u are in the hospital then
They should have hired other workers and ended up with nothing. How stupid would they feel?
What did the spoiled children get this time from the taxpayers?
Who care nurse are over pay
Stay in school.
Guess which “overpaid profession” gives you your heart meds when you need them?
The best “nurse” ( we in Russia s Moscow East Europpe ) have heard about is “Jack” ( Ben StiLLer ) in “Meet the Parents” with R . de Niro , a HoLywood comedy 2003 . 🙂
in “Meet the Parents” you see when Jack FORGOT to turn off water supply , who the guarden BECAME mud , the guarden for the Marriadge Party became mud , and that is a REAL probLem : canaLisation & cLoacka Maxima , aLso ….
Thus , “Big City Life” is more “normaL” , perhapps , than Life in a House , somewhere …. because in a House , you do not have a CLoacka Maxima ( canaLisation ) etc …
“Big City Life” MaTafix on McM Top 2005 ( NTV + Russia ) . 🙂
“Jack” >>> GayLord Facker .
UK PM Boris Johnson has THANKSED a nurse from PortyguaL and New ZeaLand for HeLping Him to struggLe on during SarS II – cov 19 diziz spreading ….
I’m here at all the strike is over you still going to have enough people to do the work years ago when this first hospital down when RN began to get rid of the people that did the work now they made the bed they have the hospital to themselves they made this bed now they can sleep in it
What?
The pandemic has exposed the direct consequences of what happens when you treat medical care like any other corporate business whose only goal is to maximize profits by any means. Now they’re facing irate medical staff who need a change to do things better for everyone.
Maybe they should make more dancing tik toks since they are so busy.
Yeah kinda like the vaccine mandates used to make record profits for the pharmaceutical industry more than curing Covid.
@trumpydog9441 go work as a nurse for one shift under these conditions. You won’t last 1 hour
@H Worked in an emergency room for 6 years. You can keep trying but your insults mean nothing to me.
Who signed the contract agreeing to the pay and working conditions? The nurses? Or were they forced to sign their agreed contracts?
Always more money. It will never stop. Bet it gets worse.
Some nurses are trash but majority of ‘em they are great
Go try to do their job for one day under these conditions
it’s good for the nurses. people might have to pay higher hospital feel or higher tax.
So let me get this right… We need more nurses so we do less work, a little bit better, and get a 20% raise plus a ridiculous benefit package because we don’t care about personal gain, only the care of our patients. ?? Ooooook
You think being understaffed is a good thing?
@Javier Garcia That’s funny…. Less workload equals current pay rate. Hire more nurses, same pay rate, same workload. More nurses equals higher costs. Higher costs equals higher bills to the insurance companies and trickles down to the end user. This is extortion, I understand completely. There’s your little lesson in economics. Just because the insurance companies pay the bills doesn’t mean no one has to pay the price. Let me guess…. You want Biden to pay your college loan too ??? Another lesson, that money doesn’t come out of thin air either. How smart do you feel now ??
This strike should have never happened if only the State would have listened to their demands and needs, the state will always sit on these demands thinking it will go away.
NYC is filthy.
Respect your nurses! You can’t do it without us
How come you gals won’t tell us the $$$$ numbers ?
What are you making vs what you demand ?
We know why it’s top secret. The taxpayer would howl at what they pay you people.
Your medical bills just got higher. 💵
Are you sure this is not the Angel’s Union. Their main concern was for the ability to affectively care for the those without a voice, their patients. All Union’s should take a hard look at what these absolutely amazing people stand for. So Proud of Them. 🥹🥹🥹🥹
BIDEN AND THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY SHOULD HAVE LET THE RAILROAD WORKERS STRIKE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN OVER IN A DAY OR TWO ALSO.
United we stand!
Most ignoramus news source 🙄
More money to make tik tok videos, eh? Now patients will pay higher Healthcare costs.
You won’t be saying this when you’re in need of heart meds. Who do you think gives them?
Yes, shutdown all hospitals baby
Bravo! Until ALL nurses stand united together for safe patient ratios the problems will continue
Go NURSES!!!!
Meanwhile the guy you covered for did twice what Trump did and his office at Penn where documents were found took in millions from anonymous Chinese communist members and this is what NBC chooses to cover. Not the banana republic we are now. CIA and FBI are at work- covering things up as we speak. Way to go Operation Mockingbird assets! Treason will always come to light.
So triggered you’re whining about Biden on a video about nurses. Biden’s team found the documents, reported it and turned them in themselves. Trump’s team refused to comply with the FBI wanting them back for months so they took it back. Stop defending elites.
Will Dr.s and Nurses be held accountable for Covid19 vaccine side effects.?
Imagine, there’s money to hire more nurses but they won’t and they will not pay nurses and aids more. Can’t wait for these leaders to die off.
Landlords: ah yes I get to increase rent by 19% 🤣
Congradulations to the NYC nurses. For clarity, America DOES NOT HAVE A LAW regulating nurse-to-patient ratios? What is the name of the regulatory agency that overseas nurse-to-patient ratios nationwide? Who collects this data? On hospital infrastructure, in America, how many hospitals with an emergency room do we have? Of these, how many are non-profit versus for-profit? From both non-profit and for-profit hospitals with an emergency room – what is the median executive pay?
Awesome. These nurses are doing exactly what should have been 10 years ago. I hope they stick to their ‘guns’.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
Well your state gov caused this issue by firing all the ones who chose my body My choice no vax.
NY nurses: We demand better care for our patients. So we’ll all abandon them at once
The workload was unbearable. They have tolerated this for years, while CEO is making 7 digit salaries.
Protesting only works if it follows the mainstream narrative. 😂
I understand standing up but I couldn’t leave all those patients I swore I would care for. Its heartbreaking knowing theres kids and babies in there in the NICU and the nurses who were caring for them left. Travel nurses don’t know the patients the way the nurses there do. They don’t know where all the supplies are. Working with a baby in the NICU since it was born then leaving and a new nurse coming in temporarily it’s stressful because they don’t know everything about that baby that the other nurses did. That’s so much shortage to put on a hospital. Which means patients not getting proper care. I’m sure if it were their child in the NICU they wouldn’t be happy either. I hope they figure it out for the sake of all the people in the hospitals who need help.
Classified in a secure garage lmao😂😂
God bless em. We need to do this in Massachusetts it’s gotten way out of hand since covid. It is not safe for the patients AT ALL
Yes nurses get a victory but what about the others that are never mentioned but are a main artery to run a hospital
That raise is going to be wiped right out from this made up thing called inflation
Any fiscal win by employees means an increase of cost for the patients. Nobody wins but the companies.
They said not about the money. But they get paid increase.
this could all be avoided earlier had the cheap Jewish hospitals willing to pay before the strike
“New York City nurses end strike after reaching deal with state nurses association” so let’s “Convince It Forward” with Laus DEO
Ok you nurses got your patient to nurse ratio…now there is work to do…glad this is over…you deserved more help…overcrowding was ghastly
Way to go nurses!
