First !! 😁 Hi Nate , hope you well.
How I am investing in 2023? The 3 fund portfolio: GME, AMC, & DOGE
Put into that mix some pulse when it comes out and you’ll be golden. Or HEX
@Nate O’Brien Fella just got O’Brien’d
No MULN??
Very good! Lots of diversity!!
To the moooooon
Thank you for sharing boss, I do believe you will succeed!
Will? Success is defined by the individual. I would describe this young man as successful.
Gold, Silver, Oil, Bonds, S&P 500 are all uncorrelated assets. When one goes up and the other goes down I rebalance my portfolio back to asset allocation. I’ve been buying lots of gold at 52 week lows last year in preparation for a recession with my cash reserve as insurance.
Always looking forward to a Nate vid

Glad to have found your channel this year! I started investing this year and it’s been great so far 😂
Nate you’re the GOAT!
I am curious about your thoughts on “green” investing – like ESG ETFs and clean energy companies.
ESG is a total scam. The E is just the trojan horse for the SG part.
Invest based on what will either generate or protect capital, don’t invest based on feelings and politics.
Investing in black rifle coffee since the jump.
👌🏻👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Rubbish……the S&P500 vastly outperforms inflation!
nice Nate
Thanks Humphrey
Can’t wait to see your next video in May!
Maybe June
@Nate O’Brien that was actually my first guess but I wanted to be optimistic.
Bro are you still living in the truck?
Spending about 1/3 of my time in the truck
This was super informative. Thanks so much for always educating us ❤
Thank you for sharing Nate! For me, you are the most credible financial youtuber.
nate what website do you use to invest?
You’re a very interesting person
Love Nate……always good advice!!❤
How long have you been investing
I was just looking at Rio Tinto (RIO) to invest as a dividend and mining play, your video w/ investing thesis definitely gives me more motivation to keep looking at the company and search for some more. Also defensive plays as the war in Ukraine will probably continue for all of 2023 and countries are beginning to see the need to have their own defense. Maybe even nuclear/uranium? – need to think about that one.
Besides that I am looking at diversifying my portfolio by looking into alternative investments like diamonds (see diamondstandard), art and physical gold to a lesser extent.
You posting really makes me happy
I will try to post more
A million years ago I got a book on bonds from the library. That author made a lot of good points on why following the bond market is another way to know the pulse of the stock market and vice versa. Cant wait for the bond video. You going for the classic James Bond intro 🙂 “Nate, Nate Bond. I take my stocks at a shakeup discount, not stirred up hype.”
The bond market is more telling of the economy than the stock market
What book?
@Gabe Nucci I wish I could remember. I can see the cover, but don’t remember the exact title. Wonder if I can access the things I checked out from the library a couple decades ago.
Nate your videos are never boring you provide inspiration and knowledge keep up the great work !!
I agree
Thanks !
Your take on index funds is horrendous. Especially if they’re held in retirement accounts where your tax comment is irrelevant. The S&P has averaged 7-8% even after inflation. Active managers overwhelmingly fail. A total stock market ETF will include emerging markets. I’d suggest anyone who thinks they want to actively manage their portfolio read some Jack Bogle.
Just because it rained last week doesn’t mean it will rain this week. $1000 invested in Japanese markets 34 years ago would be worth about $1000 today. I love the US but I don’t like to assume that it will continue 8% equity growth forever.
@Nate O’Brien Then I would recommend a total world stock market index fund that includes international because no one can predict what parts of the world will outperform. Just own the whole thing. Doesn’t change the fact that indexing is the strategy that will earn the highest returns for the most investors. Speculators can win, but most lose.
I really want some land, my family has a tiny bit in South America, but I want to have a walnut tree grove in the states eventually. This year I plan on spending my money on education (courses, books) and health (better food, training), and reinvesting what I make into my business (outsourcing/employees, trying new products). Also want to travel a few times. I really appreciate your info.

great video Nate! Thank you for the video and can’t wait for the bond video!

Do you ever look back on the videos you made in previous years to see if your thoughts have changed and if your predictions were correct? You should make like a “reaction” video so we can see the difference in how you were thinking vs what changed.
That’s a great idea
The FED has said many times that they will keep the rates high for the next two years. What makes you think they wont be able to?
They were also still printing money less than 10 months ago. Believing what the Fed says can be dangerous

I don’t won’t to be dramatic but do you have any advice/tips for people who feel they aren’t smart enough to make money besides a simple job? I want money, I want to be free and help people but I feel overwhelmed with everything and I don’t think I’m capable of understanding all the concepts about economy. And I have nothing worthy to create, show or use it to gain money. I just want to feel free and not constantly worried about if I will end up sleeping in the streets. I want to give my mom the best live, same for my friends. But I feel so unmotivated when I stard searching because I’m so lost and I don’t know what to do, what I want. I don’t say this as an excuse. I’m lazy, I know that. But also, I’m scare of money beacuse is so much responsability and I don’t think i’m ready for it. I’m just so lost. Does anyone feel like me?

Hi Nate, I want $1mil for 0% of my YouTube channel and I’m not unsubbing until you do it.
Great video brother!!
(strange that I was having a lot of these same thoughts recently)
Great video! Could you make a full video about buying equity in blogs and YouTube channels? I’ve acquired a few websites in the past, and would love to hear your insights on this!
Great idea!
Love the transparency!
Interesting, I’ve actually thought about land in West Virginia too.
It’s the most underrated state in the country. The Appalachian mountains are the best.
Ayo, Im 22 and in WV and literally almost bought some timber land a few months back with the idea of opening up campgrounds😂😂 maybe thin the woods and make a few sites 👀

I have a portfolio I have been messing with a bit and I just made it all vanguard stuff, vti, vea, vig, vnq and vde. It is performing well actually but I also buy dips when I can. I just feel like maybe if I stuck all that money into one of those would it be better or not? I’m unsure how much I am cross investing in with those as well. I also have a portfolio with just energy stocks that is performing extremely well with my top performer as mgy. It has made me tons of money but I have had to pay tons of taxes as well lol

I think investing in mining companies is smart, especially gold. Investing in physical gold and silver is huge right now since the push for digital money is being rampant. Once the physical dollar is gone and digital money or credit is all we work for it will be controlled so scandalously that we will absolutely need gold and silver for real wealth. Watch the banks. Since the last push all these banks all over the world have been buying up gold bars by the tonne
Just make sure all that land you buy you keep out of black rocks hands lol
I do have X, US Steel. It seems to perform well so far. I have about 65 stocks in my portfolio. I was down last year 17.78 percent. That beat the SPY fund but it was a downward motion for sure. I am very fortunate not having the expenses of a big family. I have the market and Social Security and a pension and YouTube income. I have probably averaged 10 percent gains each year for the past fifty years or so. I guessed right sometimes and I lost value at other times. Some of my best performers in recent years were MO and BTI and PM, tobacco stocks and oil stocks. I have F, Ford in my holdings. 2023 and 2024 could be very good and 2025 will be the first year of perhaps a newer younger Administration and Senate and Congress. I am not a financial advisor.
I have been investing in individual stocks for about a decade now, I think there’s an aspect of analytical skill and risk, as with any investing, but we can’t really omit luck. Even companies have survivorship bias applied to them somegow. Hence I’ve been sticking with index funds and ETFs. BUT this video has given me something to think about on individual stock investing, especially in wealth accumulation as opposed to wealth preservation. Well summarised Nate! Keep em coming!
panw > crwd
I like that company as well
VUSB is a great place to park short term cash. yields 4%. I’m also leaning into commodities: steel, fertilizer, gold, coal, oil. nat gas, etc. I’m also on the hunt for low p/e stocks that are doing sizable stock buybacks.
Ayo here’s my list. AAPL, AMZN,MSFT,COST,SOFI
Hey Nate can u do more wealth generation videos?
I’ve been investing into mining ⛏️ companies since 2020. I like B2Gold (BTG).👍🙌👏 great video Nate. Thank you.

Where are you finding the money to invest? I work and pay my bills, by the time I’m done there’s very little left to invest. How are you generating the money to invest after you pay your bills? What job do you have? You are bouncing around and are not concentrating on one thing at a time. You sound like you are investing on 100 different things. One investment requires years to learn yet a kid like you sounds as if you have been on this planet for 600 years and have learned how to invest in a hundred different things and 100 different ways. You sound a bit like a BS’r.
I’m down over 50% in TSLA but it could be worse. The debate I have with myself is if and when I should dump more money into this stock to significantly lower my cost basis. Any thoughts?
@Pierce And hide That’s really sad. My portfolio manager is Karen Marie Emma, She’s a verified CFP and she helped me see that returns can be made in both bull and bear markets. She covers things like investing, insurance, making sure retirement is well funded and looking at ways to have a volatility buffer for investment risk, lots of things like that. Just look the name up and you’ll see her page to connect with her. Goodluck.
@Danielle Cooper Thanks so much. I’ve had a hard time finding a good advisor in my locality. I googled the lady you mentioned, I wrote her mail and I’m waiting on her reply
@Danielle Cooper I hove lost more than 60% from the peak on paper, but I will definitely buy more if Tesla ever goes below $100. Unless Tesla board is totally stupid, it is not hard to see that the platform Tesla created for selling high-margin proprietary and third-party car softwares is tremendous and will be very profitable once there is
F*ck off bots.
@Danielle Cooper why do you imagine you know where tesla will soon be?
Good idea buying land
How I’m investing in 2023? I sold my rental property last month and now just adding some slowly into the deepest beat down stocks .. rest I’m keeping to buy a rental property as soon as I see 30-40% discount.
Oh I’m also back to school .. MBA .. hope I’ll survive 🤯

Binary option is the easiest and fastest way to make money for short term investment.
Why do US-Americans only buy US-Stocks?
Because it’s the economy that I understand best. I tend not to buy international stocks, because I don’t understand how a different countries government might function, how their laws might change certain things, and other risk factors.
I decided to make a compact portfolio of a handful of companies that I know and understand really really well.
My 2 current ones are Tesla and Polestar and I’m taking my time performing DD searching for other companies, currently looking at Uranium mining; I wanna have between 5 and 10, although 10 is really pushing it.
It’s interesting to see you going down that road too! You actually played a big part in me starting my quest for freedom and meaning.
My investing goal is to generate wealth, so I’m playing it a bit more agressive and risky over a medium-term horizon.
How about a total world index fund like VT? Too heavily weighted towards U.S.?
What if inflation is sticky? The Fed has raised rates a lot but Fed Funds rate is still well below inflation. What’re the chances the Fed stops or lowers rates before excess liquidity is pulled out of system?
That why the International developed total stock market ETF ( VEA) is doing good at least at the beginning of the year
What is ETF
Basket of Stocks. Example.
S & P 500 (top 500 companies by market cap)
Vanguard is company that produce good ETF’s
Shift into GDX or GDXJ those are undervalued as well.
I have a few individual stocks and some etfs and was thinking about only going into etfs and index funds but your changing my mind. Do you think that etfs that track the market or give dividends still a good buy for people who want to invest but don’t want to actively read financial statements? Thank you in advance
There are also 2 or 3 REITs that focus on farming or forest management.
Yes good point
Hello Nate. Do you know if I can invest in AcreTrader from México?

So in Canada we have a Tax Free Savings Account where you put after tax dollars in and any interest/capital gains/dividends are tax free forever. I’m a little over invested in banks (Canadian banks are very safe due to regulations the US doesn’t have) and I’m trying to expand into industrials and transportation. Also trying to get in on a friend’s business and maybe double my earnings which would be pretty sweet. Otherwise investing in myself, knowledge and travel and such
I completely agree with you on the macro direction. I opened positions in ZScaler and Crowd for cyber. Went into Rio, Vale, and SQM, where I’m around 40, 30, 15 percent up from when I bought on recent dips. Gonna add more through 2023.
Other than cyber, materials, and industrial. I think healthcare may be a strong choice. LLY, UNH, and VHT is what I’m looking at.
Nice! I need to look deeper into healthcare
I feel sad that even though I am investing, I don’t have the brain power to dig through how each company is doing, is this a good time to buy stocks or not, my reserve of $450K is laying waste to inflation and I don’t know what to do at this point tbh, I need solid data on market trajectory
Now is a great time. If you are just looking to hedge against inflation, just put that money in a s&p500 etf.
@ 16:45 . Or just invest in the S&P 500 for the long run. (Ticker symbol: SPY) either way you’ll get a great discount. 😉
The stock market is a great wealth builder, that statement was very wrong. Lots of billionaires and millionaires have been created from markets. Compound interest is the 8th wonder. Adjusting for inflation it still offers great returns, also you only pay taxes when you sell + long term taxes are very low. Also please note when investing in individual stocks for the long term, the top 10 stocks are typically different each decade throughout history.
Underestimating Capitalism? America has a winning formula. I wouldn’t bet against it just yet. We still have a great environment for growing businesses.
How you’re actually investing: growing multiple businesses with your time and capital.
Every one of your videos is an automatic click from me. This one did not disappoint! Thank you for being transparent about this, but also for making it clear that blind copying creators is not the best way to invest. Trying to understand their thought processes to make your own decisions is a much better path forward. Great job on this one Nate!
Thanks Spencer
Always enjoy your videos Nate. Good shit
recommend the VEQT?
Love the point you made about not being afraid to be a contrarian investor. It’s so easy to ride the wave of euphoria and follow what seems to be hot in the market. In reality though, sticking to your own metrics & fundamentals and forming your own opinions is always the way to go. Great video as always Nate!
Thanks Matt
Roughly $120k in my portfolio are in tech/TSLA stocks, can I get an advice on any other stocks that I can acquire to diversify my reserve across multiple markets while creating a comprehensive portfolio allocation that balances my concerns of risk aversion and returns that meet yearly inflation.
You need to hire a financial advisor to help you diversify your portfolio by including Mutual Funds, Etf’s, the 11 GICS groups, inflation-indexed bonds, and stocks of companies with reliable cash flows rather than growth stocks, where prices were based on future prospective earnings.
That’s correct, Louisa. At first, I wasn’t too pleased with my gains compared to my previous performances, I was doing so poorly, I thought I needed to diversify into better assets, so I got in touch with an investment-advisor. That same year, I pulled a net gain of $550k, which is about 10 times more than I average
@Sven Grot To me, not evryone can afford a coach/advisor. I personally dabble in stocks and my first rule is survival before flipping for chunky gains! congrats however, your coach must be really good, mind if I check him out on my computer?

I’m also into miners $RIO $BHP $TECK $ABX good sector and very good dividends
Amazing video and thank you for breaking it down!! Despite the economic downturn, I’m so happy have been earning $ 60,000 returns from my $7,000 investment every 10days..

Success is not built on success. It’s built on failure It’s built on frustration. it’s built on fear that you have to overcome. I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life by using *changvest_* for invest
Great video!!
Don’t see index funds as wealth building investments, but as money preservation??
Never heard this from anyone but money swindlers. Even top investors never seem to outperform the market. Maybe in the short term, but definitely not the long term. I thought this was a known fact.
Is this advice for the poor as well ?👁️
Another great video Nate. All of your videos are so informative and full of value. Good luck with your investment of buying plots of land to select harvest timber and do forest management, hearing about the cashflow opportunities were were interesting. Thanks for inspiring me to start my Youtube channel. Hopefully I can help people just like you.😀
If you wanna be successful, you most take responsibility for your emotions, not place the blame on others. In addition to make you feel more guilty about your faults, pointing the finger at others will only serve to increase your sense of personal accountability. There’s always a risk in every investment, yet people still invest and succeed. You must look outward if you wanna be successful in life.
The first step to successful investing is figuring out your goals and risk tolerance either on your own or with the help of a financial professional but is very advisable you make use of a professional like I did. If you get the facts about saving and investing and follow through with an intelligent plan, you should be able to gain financial security over the years and enjoy the benefits of managing your money.
