Not a mistake. Bond yields peaked in the fall. Many investors are expecting a recession this year, which could cause rates to decline further.

If I’m an investor in today’s market looking for fixed yield why would I ever consider the 10 year at 3.55% vs the 2 year at 4.18%? Why would anyone? Worse case scenario, I keep the bond and get 4.18% on my money

Do Bond ETFs (like Vanguard BNDX) sell the bonds they hold before they reach maturity? If they do I don’t know why someone would buy Bond Funds. It is better to buy the individual bond.

Finally got around to watching this after having it on my list for a while. Really good information. I learned a few things, but it was also helpful for reminding myself just how much I’ve learned through personal research over the last year. I knew nothing about bonds up until very recently. I’m sure the video lenghth and topic limits how popular the video is, but I wish more people could watch this. As someone else in the comments said, this video in 54 minutes summarized information that some college courses would take weeks and thounds of dollars to teach someone.

Stunning video. I got going a little later (I finished my doctoral degree at age 30 in 2016 with $170,000 in student loan debt). I was able to pay off all of my debt by the year 2019 and presently own a home and $250,000 worth of investments (combo of profit share, 401k and a brokerage account). Due to my lack of investing experience, I presently only invest in index funds, mostly voo, although I have been heavily investing in schd over the past several months. I’m not sure if it is the best course of action, but psychologically it is extremely set it and forget it, and it stops me from worrying over the performance of any one asset.
