And Irans would have a lot to loose from an internal coup or revolution as well as it’s position will be weakened. This current regime has made so many poor decisions by incompetent religious ideologues to the point that it’s geopolitically trapped. Irans geopolitical situation is sort of similar to Russias. Once a global power, no longer is, and is at threat from foreign powers, and paranoid about the country disintegrating into fragmented nations like former Yugoslavia, and forever being poor. That existential dread terrifies the political elites especially those with military backgrounds.

Iran is not even nearly as advanced as before relative to time and era(meaning it is more advanced today, simply because technology in the era has advanced). Iran use to produce its cars and airplanes better but due to long sanctions of the regime, getting simple replacement parts has brought lower standards in safety of different types. Even if we consider it wasn’t advanced as today in military technology it would be quite a ridiculous claim that It wouldn’t have been as advanced simply because we don’t know as the course of history went in a different direction. So it’s an unsubstantiated claim.
