Payton Gendron was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for killing 10 people at a Buffalo grocery store but not before a man lunged toward him during family impact statements. NBC News’ Rehema Ellis described how Gendron’s apology went over with the families in the courtroom and how he could face the death penalty in a federal trial.
