I originally posted that it was a “miracle” that none of the teengers were killed, and I was attacked by sour people for using the expression. Maybe that’s possible or maybe they are completely lost and will forever be sourpusses. Now, my comment regarding the teenagers: It’s fortunate that none of the teenagers were killed.

Before you start blaming the victims wait for the details of this shooting. Like maybe the 5 year old was being cared for by an older sibling. Lots of parents aren’t home; they are holding down several jobs to make ends meet. Don’t be so quick to judge.
Sorry, but I think a distinction needs to be made between preteen kids and teens, because lots of teens unfortunately get into violent altercations… so there is a big potential difference when one says:
9 kids (preteens) were shot outside a gas station.
versus
9 kids (teenagers) were shot outside a gas station.
If it was preteens I can’t see this possibly being gang related.
If this was teens, was it gang related? Not that gang related shootings are good, they are not, and those shot might have not been doing anything to provoke such gang violence. But, if it was gang violence then there is a different path we should take to try and stop further gang violence than if this was a hate crime targeting pre-teens or some individual who has just gone insane in an evil way resulting in targeting pre-teens.

The police always arrive 10 minutes after the event. Policing is best performed when officers walk the best and not ride around in their air conditioned SUV’s. They need to get off their butts and walk and bike the communities. Crime prevention must be proactive, not reactive.
