We already go through background checks. How deep do they want to dig?
I mean the Covenant school shooter visit “7” different gun stores. There needs to be something that gives gun sellers a hint, a red flag. Or if anything they should make it so that consumers have to renew their license every couple of years.
A person’s state of mind could change at any year. For example the recent bank mass shooter was a gun owner with a master degree and a decent background that went outdo control.
Just copy South African gun law. Problem halfway solve.

Gov. Lee is delusional, did he miss what has been happening in this state? Bipartisan, funny. A good portion of the people of the state of TN do not understand that freedom means people are allowed to be or think differently than yourself. Let alone believe a different religion, it’s crazy how much they resemble the things they claim to despise.
So he is trying to fix the problem TN Republicans created. This is a small step in the right direction.

If your a law abiding citizen…you should pass a back ground check easy…why would you want people who shouldn’t have a gun walking in and buying them, no problem?

These states can’t afford to maintain their schools, pay their teachers a decent wage, staff the schools with educators and paraeducators. How are they going to get the money to pay for these arms guards? And who is legally and financially liable if a guard accidentally shoots someone or someone somehow gets the guards’ firearm?

I’d love to know how we are going to stop all these Liberal mass murderers, while society keeps encouraging their mental illnesses by refusing to address them and provide mental healthcare. The family admits that their son had mental health issues, did not report him as a danger, and he passed a federal background check to purchase the firearm because he lied on it about his mental health…
At this point I haven’t watched the video yet, but I have to wonder, going in, why should I trust this guy?

@Scott Yeah I think the democrats are going in the wrong direction with the assault weapon ban but the “more good guys with guns” solution that the Republicans keep proposing has clearly not worked out either. I’m not for confiscating guns from everyone but there needs to be some level of gun restrictions so that we dont have to hear about our fellow Americans getting shot on a daily basis.

NICS background check required of EVERY gun purchase from a federally licensed gun dealer is a federal law not a state law. Now proposed universal background check laws only require all gun sells between private citizens to go through a federally licensed dealer, square one. So that being said I saw no mention of 13or14 restricted persons questions on the 4473 background form. So what exactly do they not cover that needs to be addressed but wasn’t? What is this magical law that will prevent killers from killing that murder laws haven’t been able to do forever? Maybe we just need more common sense murder laws.

The uptick in mass murders following the repeal of the ban on semi automatic weapons ,that lasted for 10 years thru the 90 s …was / is huge …., also look at the safest state in the Nation , Conn ., following their gun safety regs put in place after Sandy Hook …..Fact ……the worst 4 states in the nation , in terms of gun violence , are red states …….of the 10 states with the highest rates of serious crime and homicides , per capita , 9 are red [ google list Ga. as a blue state …it is not } ..
