It is more than a decade since the armed group al-Shabab was pushed out of Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu.
Since then, a relative calm has returned to the coastal city.
And now an economic boom is fuelling a surge in property development.

Besides Turkish help, Somalis abroad are very involved in their country’s finances and remittances are sent back by Somalis abroad, 1 billion dollars plus, so not all of it is foreign help rather hard work of Somalis
Most Somalis are business people and they help Turkey by buying many products from their markets and sell other countries in the world including somalia and USA and Europe so there is also long history and food relation between the countries and erdogan is wise to help us although he is not stealing your money but investing another brother who is in need and mostly its business and we shall repay it its less that 100 million the investment Turkish made and they are already benefiting in the port and airport of somali and tourism and investment of the Somalis in turkey

I volunteer my services every year for 3 months at the Erdoğan Hospital. Since my husband and I are both in the medical field but also have 4 children I go one year and he goes the next. We both have spend a lot of time in Somalia, Mogadishu and other parts of Africa. It definitely takes some getting used to. The entire area has changed from when I stepped foot to Somalia. Poverty brings out crime and desperation and that’s how Somalia used to be. I really don’t want to get into politics or state my opinion. My main object is to help those that require medical attention and leave the rest to others.
poverty had/has a direct link with the civil war and state collapse, before that Somalia did not have poverty. And you and your husband are good people.

The Turkish-backed Somali army suppressed the rebels and restored order.
The Turks regulated the construction industry.
Western colonialists were stealing. The Turks helped Somalia as his brother.

These skylines are so ugly and basic. Muqadishu was known as the white pearl of the Indian ocean. With a unique architecture of a mix of arfrican and islamic design. These buildings have no cultural significance and could be any building in another continent. The skylines will also block the beautiful view of the Indian ocean and beaches of yhr city.
