In May of 2021, South Carolina police opened fire on a man sitting in his truck talking to his mother after being called to the scene for a wellness check. The man, Trevor Mullinax, survived, and has filed a lawsuit alleging the officers defaulted to “using deadly force.” WCNC’s Kayland Hagwood reports.

this is how a lot of “blue lives matter” people feel until it happens to them. we need some kind of police force, but what we have now…. cops are NOT here to protect you or anyone else. they’re out there for themselves. never trust one even if you’re innocent, never tell one anything more than what us legally required and know your rights. Until policing is completely reformed from the ground up across the US, this will always happen.

People need to understand that police in this country get very little training compared to many others. And becoming a cop is easy…..we have all seen the fat out of shape ones and the level of IQ required is not high…..they only want them smart enough to do what they are told…..and to always protect other cops no matter what…….there have been people who have been turned away because they scored to high on the tests and have sued those departments……sounds crazy but it is true.

I dont know what worries me more. The fact that a suicidal man was shot 50 times by the cops in broad daylight with his mother standing next to him, or the fact that their aim was so bad that he survived. Policemen have a tough job, but some cops are just plain impatient and trigger-happy. And once officer fires his gun, all the others just fire as well so that they have plausible deniability. Unnecessary.

What I dislike about clips like this is it tends to cause people to make an immediate conclusion about the circumstances and what the proper response should be without the first hand knowledge of what has taken place minutes and possibly hours before this tragedy occurred.
