The US reaped Germany from cheap Russian energies; then they want also to reap Germany from Chinese market. With “friends” like the US, who would need enemies?
If Germany’s Foreign Affairs Minister Anna Baerbock and Chancellor Scholz don’t sing from the same song sheet, then obviously it is a loose coalition. Scholz cannot tell Baerbock what to say, and she won’t listen even if told by Scholz.
But tha is to be expected because the way things are in Germany, and pretty much Europe in general, the US sets Europe’s foreign policies and agenda. To pretend that Europe is independent from the US is a hard sell. The US is selling its suit of agenda under the banner “democracy and human rights”, and Europe swallowed it hook, line and sinker. This is especially true for Anna Baerbock who is a Greens Party member that is big on idealistic issues.
Germany needs to struggle and regain independence by ending American military occupation

As a German i nether heard of that guy, had to google them, in that time he was in the goverment coalition (2013) both partys made very unpopular stuff and only end of 2021 the fdp (i vote for) got in goverment again.
+The Vice Chancellor is the deputy of the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany or historically also the respective general deputy of the Reich Chancellor during the time of the German Empire and the Weimar Republic. The term vice chancellor is – unlike in Austria – unofficial and does not appear in any of the German constitutions. The Basic Law speaks of a deputy whom the chancellor appoints and who must be a federal minister.
A chancellor has many duties in which he can be represented by other people. However, the Basic Law here means only the special powers that belong to the office of the Federal Chancellor. In the literature, it is disputed when exactly the case of representation occurs and who determines it, should the Federal Chancellor (e.g. due to a sudden illness) not be able to make this decision himself. It is also disputed whether the deputy can really exercise all the powers of the Federal Chancellor in the event of a deputization, for example, to ask for a vote of confidence. If the Chancellor himself is still capable of acting, the Vice Chancellor’s options are very limited anyway. So far, however, there has not been an overall deputization, which would have been necessary because the Chancellor was seriously ill or unavailable for a longer period of time.
The deputy is not the successor to the Chancellor if the latter’s office ends without a successor having been appointed (for example, through resignation). The Federal Chancellor is obliged to continue in office on a caretaker basis if the Federal President requests him to do so. If, for example, the Chancellor has died or there are other reasons why he should not continue to manage the office, the Federal President may also ask the Vice-Chancellor or another minister to do so. As soon as possible, however, the German Bundestag should convene and elect a new Chancellor.
To the china stuff i dont say much, we have enough to do at the moment and dont need a hard brake (not like any in Europe would do that at the moment), the reduce strategic cooperation (like no mtu engines for chinas submarines) less dual use stuff, make it harder for china to buy/get spezial parts chemicals for chip building , build alternative production in vietnam, indonesia, india…
Look deeper and longer in chinese investments and purchases in german etc.
But at the moment we are not ready for a hard brake or want it, same with china at the moment we have a interdependency on to many areas
Depending how old you are you must have lived in a cave if you didn’t know the beloved Phipsi. Very cool summary of the vice-chancellor role though. Thanks!
Love to China. It brings peace, construction and economic development to other countries.
huh
neither does china
It’s hard for Germany to have a China strategy, because any strategy which isn’t belligerent or aggressive will make it a target of the US.
Interesting statement
TRADE IS NOW CALLED RELIANCE AND DEPENDENCE? CHINA IS GERMANY’S LARGEST TRADE PARTNER. GERMANY IS IN A RECESSION, THE U.S BLEW UP NORD STREAM AND NOW SELLING GERMANY 4 X THE PRICE OF LNG FROM THE U.S. GERMANY IS CLOSING DOWN ITS INDUSTRIES DUE TO LACK OF CHEAP RUSSIAN GAS. FRANCE IS ASKING TO JOIN BRICS. THE PEOPLE IN GERMANY NOW NEED TO UNDERSTAND DEMOCRACY IS NOT FOOD. ST SOME POINT THE PEOPLE OF EUROPE NEED TO STAND UP TO THE AMERICAN NEOCONS. THEIR GOAL WAS ALWAYS TO DESTROY GERMANY SO GERMANY CAN BE DEPENDENT ON AMERICA. THE U.S IS ALSO PRESSURING GERMANY TO STOP TRADING WITH CHINA ITS LARGEST TRADING PARTNER. ACCORDING TO THE U.S GERMANY CAN NOT HAVE CHAP RUSSIAN GAS AND NOT TRADE WITH CHINA. THE GOAL OF THE AMERICANS IS TO KEEP GERMANY DOWN.
Germany trapped between US and China. Their car industry no more competitive and their gas prices getting more and more expensive
