A bobcat attacked a staff member of a wilderness outdoor program as he slept in a hammock in Connecticut’s Selden Neck State Park. Three adult leaders with the program ultimately killed the bobcat and then were taken to a local hospital for treatment. WVIT’s Siobhan McGirl reports.

#Bobcat #Connecticut #News
Poor kitty just wanted to play.
I’ve lived in the Adirondack Mountains in upstate NY for 52 years 3.5 million acres forest preserve. I’ve seen 35 bears, three moose and one bobcat. Never have I ever heard of a bobcat attack over here.
Rabies. It happens. 🐆🐾
Impressive you actually remember the count for each animal
@BloodMalice I’ve also seen 🦊🐭🐰🐸🦅🦉🦆🐦⬛🦇🐺🐍🐢🦌🦃🦝🦨🦦🦫🐿️ but lose count on these fellas
@BloodMalicehe’s just high bro
Bad kitty. Now sleep with the fishes.
Had one as a pet in the70’s.
I also had one that was would come in my yard and was never aggressive. It was decades ago so I’m not positive, but I think it would let me pet it.
They’re gorgeous animals. But still wild. Let them be.
@Susan Kay Too bad they cant be cross breed with domestic cats. Would be beautiful pets.
It’s a cat. Not a lot of brain power operating the animal.
Get a bow wow ruff ruff LOL
@Douglmao!
Same could be said about you
Even the animals don’t like liberals they can sniff them out. ..
Good cat. Attack those colonizers.
exatcly
👏😄
Yea ok Like your tribes after tribes didn’t colonise one another you all goody goody
The camp counselor should have asked the Bobcat if he was having any issues at home, and if this was why he was having anger issues.
I don’t understand why some people drop their guard in animal territory, such as the woods or the ocean.
Might have to do with the fact they were sleeping lol
@Greg Outside. In a hammock. 😺😼😾
@Susan Kay while camping. Yes it’s a very common thing 😂.
@Greg The point is that people shouldn’t do things such as sleep in the woods. No one should be in the woods if they don’t have to be there; however, if they do go there, they shouldn’t drop their guard.
That is not normal behavior for a bob cat. I suspect it had rabies.
I’ve come face to face with both bobcats and panthers while running alone on Florida trail, they’ve always ran the other way disappearing in the brush.
Ray Epps strike’s again 😂😂
nature mad and fighting back.. deforestation and us destroying their homes….
Maybe a female that had babies around that area….🐅
I don’t see a bob cat attacking anyone without rabies.
Almost certainly it was Rabid or it had Kittens nearby and felt the person was endangering the kittens somehow. People who bike or hike trails camp in the woods and so on would truly be shocked how often there’s a bobcat around them and they just don’t know because they want nothing to do with us and can be up in trees or inside hollow logs and people go right by not knowing
So the animal is sick because it was protecting its home?
Some days aren’t the best, but most are better than getting attacked by a bob cat
Pragmatist.
I like it!
@Susan Kay 😼
i hope the bobcat was taxidermized into a hat
It would look good on your mom
Counselor probably peed in cat’s territory.
Animals all over are snapping orcas have been attacking and sinking boats and recently a bear killed a person on his porch.
👏
I mean my cat will attack anything dangling. Poor bobcat.
RIP Bobcat.
First orcas. Now bobcats.
Nature is fighting back on the virus named humans.
Bobcats only attack when they smell fear, food or failure 🫡
The bobcat must’ve had a grudge to settle with a person in the hammock. Don’t forget this is the bobcats house!!!!!!!! rest in peace little warrior🙏
Bobcats don’t need to be sick to attack
0:40 That’s what I thought when I heard what happened, that’s not normal behavior. It would have ran from three people confronting it and not fought to it’s own death if it weren’t sick, probably rabies.
The cat knew they were evil
Somebody got a new a hole
just kitty cat
I don’t understand why some people drop their guard in animal territory, such as the woods or the ocean.
Hammocks are dicey I feel asleep In a hammock in Costa Rica and woke up surronded by Giant Iguanas. I was 😮
Cats will usually only attack out of predatory instinct or if you’re too close to their cubs. Tip if you’re ever confronted by one: Walk backward slowly while staring at it’s face.
Truck driver here..I once made a delivery in Wallingford Conn…a Bobcat ran right across the road..
Thank God he survived.
I went to the Wilderness School back in the 70’s. Buck & Katey were our counselors! My teachers from Masuk High(Mr. McMahon & Mike) went with us! We had to climb 150 ft. rock face & repel off it. My legs were like sewing machines when I tried going over the edge & Jim McMahon helped me do it.( He always was my favorite teacher) We also had to go out in the woods on a 24 hr solo with a tarp & bag of G.O.R.P(Good Old Raisins & peanuts) They put me near a stream & I walked out to a rock in the middle & wote my BEAUTIFUL PARENTS a letter that my Mom had till she passed away in 2016! A raccoon ate my bag of GORP while I was writing the letter! Went white water canoeing 🧗🚣When the van pulled into my driveway to drop me off my Mom came out crying! I gave her the letter I wrote and told her not to cry it was the best thing she could’ve done for me! 61 now & WISH I WAS WITH MY PARENTS!💔 MISS HEARING THEIR VOICES, LAUGHING, AND FEELING THE LOVE WE HAD FOR EACH OTHER! We would be at Menemsia Beach in Martha’s Vineyard right now if they were still alive!🕊️🦋The Bobcat had to have Rabies to attack like that! My sincere condolences to anyone who was hurt!❤️
Touching story, but what on Earth does it have to do with Bobcats?
@BloodMalice The name of the school brought back that memory!💔
@life’sabitch I went to Brewster Forestry Camp (Outward Bound) in Brewster in ’77 and did things similar to what you posted. We rappelled down huge granite rocks at Quincy quarry, hiked Appalachian Trail, and a few other things.
I understand. These are cute, as long you or the cat keeps distance. That is something that changes with a hammock, where the animal could walk underneath you if the campfire gone out. As long you don’t move nothing probably happens, but if you scare him or suddenly try to step out of the hammock…
A school with a “transition” program for adolescents? Leave the children out of your LGBTQ hopes and dreams. Disgusting.
It must have been an “adolescent” bobcat who was just trying to “transition” into the LGBTQ community.
Should have went harder if you ask me
Animals can sense evil.
RIP Bobcat
