I live in the desert SW, this is NOT normal. When I moved to Albuquerque in 2005, we still had monsoons (no rains this year). It didn’t even hit 100 degrees, and was only over 95 for 8 days. You people are morons who got us here, I sincerely hope you lot are eliminated soon so the rest of us with brains can build a better world.

Do you really think that the scientist who gave that answer never ever thought of taking the sea temperature until just now? Do you remember El Niño and its consequences? How do you think scientists around the world know when El Niño is happening and what causes it? There are plenty of buoys everywhere taking the ocean’s temperature, constantly.

Hi Christine, When a city hits record temperatures, that means it hasn’t happened before.
As someone in the desert southwest, I can tell you this is no normal summer. Yes, we are used to it getting into the 100s (although we have hit many record high temps this year), but we have next to no precipitation. That means the monsoon storms that generally cool us off at night are not happening. And in my state, most people do not have air conditioning. We have swamp coolers, which can only cool our homes to about 80 on a 100-degree day. After several weeks of this, it has been rough. And with record temps across the world right now, it’s foolish to pretend this is “normal.”

Live in Phoenix area. It’s hot. It’s taking a toll on us because its been 21 straight days of temps over 110.. but I’d say over 113 really. Humidity is low so that seems to be the only saving grace.
Grew up at 67th avenue and Camelback Rd, didn’t used to be so hot, climate change and heat bowl effect is very real. Cheers from Flagstaff

Miami is worse then Phoenix, humidity makes a massive difference.
Miami only had a heat index of 107-110. Phoenix on the other hand, feels hotter because it reached as high as 116-119 degrees. Corpus Christi, on the other hand reaching 103 degrees with a heat index of 123-127 degrees is worse than Phoenix at 116-119 degrees because Corpus feels like 123-127 degrees while Phoenix feels like 116-119 degrees.

It’s rough here in Albuquerque. Been 100 or so for weeks. Now, you may say, oh that’s not that bad. The problem is that many of us do not have air conditioning. We have something called swamp coolers, which have limits on how much they can cool. My house is at about 82 degrees in the afternoon. The big problem is we’re not getting the monsoon rains, which generally cool things off at night and make the days a bit more manageable. I’m starting to get super worried about the coming years. Still, I’m thankful I have something to cool my house and I truly feel for those who do not.
be careful with those swamp coolers and watch the indoor humidity level. Our west coast advantage is that there’s less humidity. Putting too much humidity into indoor air can make it as dangerous as east coast humidity+heat

If God wouldn’t send them rain for disobedience to God, a heat wave is related and not unreasonable for our disobedience to God. Also, just because that was to the Children of Israel, to say that’s only for them is also a stretch, if later peoples disobeyed, punishments logically should be similar. And Jesus did say similar concerning the end of the world in Matthew 24:3 to 7: “There will be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in various places.” Again, it doesn’t specifically say “heat wave” but it’s not out of line based on the other broad things stated there. You actually said something far more unsupported by Scriptures by saying this doesn’t apply to us because we’re supposedly under grace grafted into the vine, since that goes against what I just quoted Jesus saying about the end of the world. If the later peoples were supposedly under grace and exempt from punishments from God due to disobedience, then God wouldn’t be sending those calamities that Jesus mentioned before the end of the world.

We will have to deal with evil that men do but when God pours out His wrath on sin all Spirit filled born again believer’s will be caught up or taken out of the way, the bible is clear on this in 1 and 2 Thessalonians. The things happening now are nothing compared to what will come even the sun causing heat waves will be worse I believe that’s in Revelation but again we aren’t there yet.
