#Cellphone #School #News
Good thing if students pay closer attention to their teachers and academics.
I really like that idea tube and the kids cell phone. I’m 32 years old and at that time we had MP3 players that kids download cheat sheets and use them for their work. Now we we upgraded to smartphones. Now kids can definitely download cheat sheets for their work or focus on more of Facebook and Twitter and taking selfies more than doing their school. Their teachings kids responsibilities. Salata businesses out there you can even use your phone as a co-worker. My dad worked at Walmart distribution center and they are not allowed to have their phones inside the building with them. Only on their break they’re allowed to.
It’s funny how when kids started recording what the teachers were doing, that now there is a cell phone problem. While I agree with the premise of their reasoning, I highly doubt that it is the only reason.
Students try to push teachers to the edge hoping to record them… If bad behavior from a teacher occurs there are 30+ students to report it.
Great idea. They can make it better by confiscating the phones entirely and holding them until the end of the day.
In the case of a family emergency, the school should be called, and they can relay the info to the student.
Personally, if I had children they would not be allowed to have a smartphone until they were 18 years old, and in-home use of a computer would be strictly monitored. But that’s just me.
They need to be able to have quick access for emergencys. 1:47 I think they have been handy in some of the school shooting. Also students with chronic illnesses like diabetes or epilepsy.
That’s ok an all but it’s necessary because schools aren’t safe. Besides guns being a problem kids are not protected while walking around either because of child predators .. so what’s more important? When theirs a emergency they won’t have someone to call.
The first time I saw this pouch wasn’t at a school, but was at an event to see Pee Wee Herman. My hubby & I went to see Pee Wee Herman (Paul Reubens) at an event in San Diego to watch his adventure movie & he would do a talk after the movie. When you walked into the venue they handed everyone a pouch and had you lock it up and hold onto your phone during the event. Which suits me just fine. I want to be present at the event & watch the movie. I was planning on shutting my phone off any way. The only reason I brought my phone with me, was because I needed the ushers to scan the tixs on my phone. I’ve heard more entertainers are starting to do this. I’m on board with this.
So 10 yrs ago ,They used to take them and hold them til the class bell rang in our high school 😂 this good though. No more special privileges gen z!😂
They should do this at concerts too. All of the idiots at concerts filming is the reason why I go to less concerts these days.
There’s a smart kid out there somewhere that is going to figure out how to decode that unlocking mechanism. Hate the pouch, do something about it. 😅
this is not gonna work at all. my school has these pouches & kids found a way to open it asap. they break it on desks, bend the pin, or even put trap phones into the pouch & have their real phone with them. and even with these implemented pouches, students still misbehave in class or don’t pay attention. theyre not really doing anything by adding these things to schools. I think maybe they need to focus on even bigger problems like how schools here are getting shot up everyday. there are a lot of schools that do well, even though kids still have their phones out. ppl just wanna blame the phones & dont blame the real issue which is the way the parents raise these kids & how some of these kids are really just struggling internally
Why do those classes look segregated..?
If there’s a shooting, who’s gonna call 911🤦🏽♂️
I’d open that with a super strong magnet
This is ridiculous. There’s no reason for cell phones to be allowed to be used on campus, period. None of the preceding generations needed it, and you need less distractions, not more.
Of course those women see an issue. They’re part of the problem to begin with.
I can get a teacher taken away everyone’s phone during a test but if a school shooting happens, how will the students be able to access their phone to contact emergency authority or someone close to them I’m just saying this has a huge flaw. Until they can figure out that they shouldn’t implement this
It’s the guns. #endgunviolence
they don’t want kids recording what their doing in school. In fact they don’t want parents knowing.
Well done.
Okay…but what if a horrible accident happens?
Take pictures of the notes?!?! 1:04 That’s 🧢🤥 😂
this is a problem for today….its crazy how glued we all are with phones. also….if there was an emergency….i was picked up….soooo they don’t need their phones
As a parent, I’m not opposed to this new rule. My teen is a senior in HS. Their school has a no phone policy, but they are allowed to keep phones and can use in an emergency. My biggest worry was personally directed at my child and those like them, because they are legally blind and use their phone to make their environment more accessible. As long as these schools, like my teens school, are willing to understand that phones are tools for some students (the students in turn must respect their peers and whatever guidelines for special use are laid out), then I think this great. We need to disconnect more and reconnect with the real world.
This is a great idea. I was smart enough not to give my children the impression that they were entitled to have cell phones and service. So no issue with mine
I love it❤
Let’s just call it what it is parents like when phones occupy and raise their kids because most parents are just too lazy to say no.
Great, next mass shooting nobody will know
0:54 OF COURSE children don’t like it. In school? PAY ATTENTION! Now watch out for kids with magnets…
Glad my school is not doing it but is being more stict on it
No white people school?
They’re going to be distracted by other means, some kids aren’t built to pass
I find it so funny how so many people can talk about teens with their phones but can’t go 30 minutes without their own 😂
And this does not mean everyone
How did no one think of this dead simple invention until now? I hope that company patented this thing. It’s so clever! I think it’s using the sort of lock you see on clothes in department stores or something like that.
Kids under 18 should only be allowed FLIP PHONES that only does Talk & Text, no internet, no social media! No apps!
Things kids under 18 having a smartphone with internet access social media and more.
There are people with conditions like Type 1 Diabetes who rely on constant glucose monitoring, and many of them have smartphone apps connected to said monitors. Are those students allowed to keep their phones out of the pouches as necessary medical devices?
BEST IDEA EVER, WELL DONE… 👏👏👏
What about for dire emergencies
I bet some smart kid bought a magnet and charges a couple bucks to each student who wants to access their phone or some kid puts their old phone in the pouch
Painful adjustment you laying into these kids. When I went to school I had magazines . These kids dumbasses
These kids are smart
Welll pay attention which is why you are at school to learn . This generation are waste of chumm
This generation is not waste time they are well behaved they wish phones to unbanned in school.
It’s the guns not phones.
#endgunviolence
I knew someone who had a burner cellphone just so he could give it to teachers if he got in trouble
I wish kids could utilize phones with education to play games like Kahoot! during class or to lookup questions they might think about during class.
They use these pouches at comedy shows
Your kid won’t die for 8 hours without a phone. If you need to contact them, call the school. A cell phone is a distraction and a problem for teachers.
It’s a good thing that nothing horrific or tragic ever happens at schools all over this country that would require the use of a phone to contact police that won’t go into a building for some reason or to call their parents one last time. Nope, nothing like that has ever happened. 🙃🙃🙃
I graduated high school 7 years ago. When I was in it, the school required us to use our phones for many of our assignments. It didn’t make too much sense to me, especially as there was the odd student who didn’t have a phone. It’s interesting that just now schools are starting to realize that “BYOD”/bring your own device wasn’t the best plan, even if it meant the schools didn’t need to pay for their computers’ maintenance so often….
No absolutely not. They will fall behind. Their phones are tools. Limited their access to tools every other state allows is ridiculous. That’s why Alabama is last in education. Their school board is living in the 1980s.
I DO NOT KNOW IF THOSE SECURITY POUCHES ARE GOOD IDEA, BECAUSE WHAT IF THERE’S SCHOOL SHOOTINGS HAPPENING AGAIN OR STUDENTS ARE SICK?!!!
IT’S A LOT EASIER FOR PARENTS TO CONTACT THEIR KIDS BY THEIR CELL PHONES!!!
It’s great that kids these days are finally paying attention, but what happens in a school shooting situation?
How many more people die because victims can’t call for help?
This should be everywhere
Innovation 🎉
Did they not know they can watch tv and scroll threw messages on the apple watch? lol
I think it’s cruel to punish everyone. These pouches should only be for frequent offenders. This way, it teaches kids self control instead of being over controlled.
true
Locking cellphones away while in class…..we’ve been doin that for like 2 decades. Just now it’s on the news.
Those bags are dumb. Just put the phones in a locker or in the students ‘ bags.
“If there’s an emergency how can I reach my child?” um…the way your parents had to when you were in school…Calling the school. The way it should be.
She said cheating well I guess she was honest. Lol
I think it’s a good idea. I know there can be emergencies sometimes but back in the day we didn’t have phones. And there would be emergencies here and there wether it was a family or just at school. If phones were never made kids wouldn’t know what it would be like not to have phones. All I had was a beeper. And even those we weren’t allowed to have. If we got caught with one it got taken away and one of our parents would have to come and pick it up.
Good for them! About time! It is ridiculous the mockery kids are making of teachers. Let alone the extreme cases of violence against teachers for a cell phone. Kids need to re-engage socially. They don’t think they need that and that Snapchat is a substitute; but it is not.
Good, middle and high school kids are on the phones too much as is during school hours, they are there to learn, not be on the phone, hopefully, more schools and districts make a similar choice, to actually educate the kids vs just babysitting they
As you can see, the kids said nothing about emergencies they just want be on tic tok, msg each other, and cheat. Thats why their is school staff to call police in case of emergencies. They dont need 100s of kids calling 911 cause I’m sure dispatchers cant handling all the calls at once.
I’m glad they didn’t have this when I was in school. I need to be able to contact someone I know when I need help and record if necessary. I also didn’t see any laptops or anything to merge technology with learning. It seems like they are using an outdated teaching models.
We are in a technological era and they are still using pen and paper.
We weren’t allowed to use phones during school to listen to music.
I brought a pocket cd player and a walkman…
I do believe this is positive, but one day these schools are gonna be caught with a school shooting and it will change their methods. If no one can call the police what you think is gonna happen.
This is actually a great idea.
I think it’s a dangerous situation should a shooter invade the school, the parents would want to communicate with their child. The parents need to step up and instruct their child not to text while in school unless there is an emergency! 😮 “Mom I’m alright” etc. 😊 it’s not the schools responsibility! It also limits free speech, First Amendment! Mom I’m dying there is a shooter in school!
#endgunviolence
It’s the guns.
Bill Gates and Steve Jobs didn’t allow their children to use any device, even the ones they pioneered, for obvious reasons …
I wish bill gates kids have devices.
Why wasn’t this done years ago by every school in the world?
Nope. A successful school would integrate technology into the lesson plan. You’d be hard pressed to find an individual without access to a smart phone, especially in a country with affordable connectivity plans. Shouldn’t you be creating citizens who can operate in society, not limit students freedom to use every resource available to them? (To say nothing of the personal security a phone may afford.)
This is more an issue of classroom management than teaching or learning. Hold students accountable for their behavior and use the phone as the tool it’s meant to be, for the good of the students not the convenience of the teacher. It should be a short learning curve to do so.
My best advice to parents these days is to homeschool…and this comes from a former teacher.
Or move to Finland 🇫🇮 there is no homework there.
I agree with this just to enforce discipline. BUT in reality, all information being taught in schools are available in a click away with smartphones. Calculus and Physics concepts are easier to grasp most of the time with youtube than actual classroom set ups…. This is why majority of the students are bored with slow, sometimes not straight to the point delivery of topics in a classroom. I mean financial literacy is not even taught in schools unless otherwise it is a course…
Financial literacy is not included in schools because students’ parents should be teaching them the in’s and outs of finances. 🙄 This isn’t the first time I’ve heard a brainless sheep bring this up as a revolutionary idea. Yawn…
Let these kids have their phone its not like they’re gonna be doctors or lawyers anyways lol i see alot of future uber drivers and convicts.
All good til an emergency happens . We live in crazy times .
I wish phones were unbanned in Montgomery public schools.
what happens if there is an emergency like a shooting or a fire, and no students are able to access their phones because all of them cannot possibly make it to those magnets in time
I guess us millennials were the last generation to not have phones during our teen age years.
I feel like this could be easily defeated if you just bring a strong magnet with you
That’s a pretty big risk right now. He better hope no one takes advantage of the fact y’all wanted to be on the news promoting the idea (and your virtuous egos) because if there’s anyone wanting to make some trouble, guess where they’ll go first.
Sounds a lot like Hawaii’s alert system & water turn off blunder to me- especially when it’s lives at stake.
(FACTS OVA FEELINGS). Back In School They Din’t Teach Us What Wee Needed To Know Like How To Deal With Despair or a Broken 💔
They love coming for us black people 😊
I love it you go to school to learn not be on a phone
gee something sensible…pay attention while learning…no doubt it will be weaponized into some civil rights issue by the “conservatives”…keep that base angry or they might lose interest too
This sort of collective punishment just makes kids resent their administrators. I could get behind a policy against using phones during class. If enforced, it would achieve the same results without violating the individual freedoms of those who are doing no wrong. But let’s be honest, kids aren’t given rights— especially in a state like Alabama where corporal punishment is still commonplace into high school.
I think the pouches could be a policy for repeat offenders.
https://youtu.be/ZYCqebmnhpI
We could all use some pouch time. It’s revolutionized teaching and students focusing.
Not mad at this tbh
Where can we get these pouches
This is why i homeschool my babies.
I teach in a school in the UK. This is nothing new here, we have been doing this for years. Ok we don’t have the threat of guns but each class has a system that messages can get to the front office in case of emergencies. The Children are more focused without their phones.
These parents act like cellphones have always existed. “What do we do if there’s an emergency?” You call the school and tell them there’s an emergency and they’ll send your kid to the office until you get there. ffs man
they should add 2 or 3 emergency telephone that directly contact the authorities in case of an emergency
I thought this was a bad idea, then I realized what school decided to implement it. Those kids don’t listen.
Cue the tiktokers showing how to open the pouch
Stupid parents only don’t agree this is very good to do, parents talking about if there’s an emergency they can’t reach their kids these parents had a phone when they were in school in the 60s 70s 80s 90s smh always some thing
Yes lock up the phones
But also put some armed US marines at these schools, not police
How else will they learn anything if you don’t. Why is this even an item of news?
Schools really be taking serious with phones but not bullying
Unfortunate but necessary!!!
crazy how the first concern of the parents is a “shooting” sad state kf america
I wasn’t even allowed to have a hat in class in the 90s.
