Our country paid every tax payer affected by our quakes and floods, $500 per week immediately and froze our mortgages (made the banks do that). This is the least your government should do as a national plan for mass infrastructure and home losses. Because insurance can take years for rebuilds, my mortgage wasn’t paid for years but paid off now. Because we all had to pay for alternative accommodation. This is the least the US government should do, because if they cant work, and cant pay their mortgages, or other existing bills then the greedy investors will come in and buy for even less. As islands our lands are limited so you cant just jump up and buy elsewhere. Hawaii should quit the US and so should American Samoa. American Samoa aretill reliant on US fossil feuls and Samoa is on hydroelectric and biomass energy and only partly reliant on fossil feuls. But they are almost there. Why would the US leave an island dependant on fossil feuls for energy! Its disgusting for Samoa to.pit up with the pollution coming from American Samoa. And that sad story was shown to make you feel better about the US! What a joke.
