15 weeks is arbitrary because fetuses can’t feel pain until at 24 weeks. The nociception system (noxious stimuli – detection of damage) does not exist in a fetus until at least 20 weeks when the peripheral nerves connect to the CNS and pain (a subjective emotional response to noxious stimuli) does not exist at least until 24 weeks when the thalamocortical connections are made connecting the CNS and PNS to the thalamus which regulates emotional responses.
These people don’t care about choice or women’s health, they just want to devalue human life and have the population accept killing innocents. If you can convince a society that it’s acceptable to kill a viable unborn baby, you can get them to accept any barbaric practice because humans always escalate without boundaries.
We let people die everyday of preventative causes. We could ban driving and tobacco and save a lot of lives but inconvenience everyone. Lives don’t always come before freedom, it’s a balance.

Nor does it matter if it has “thoughts or feelings”. If it had thoughts and feeling a week after conception I doubt that would get in the way of a woman seeking an abortion if she want one. That value of that being first and foremost comes from whether the woman that its in wants it or not. If she wants it its a precious little special being and everyone around her has to relate to it as such. If she doesn’t want the child then its just a disposable clump of cells.

Fifteen weeks is very liberal compared to most European countries, this law also allows for medical exceptions after that for medical reasons. These are human beings we’re talking about. A baby is as much a baby deserving of life five minutes before birth as it is five minutes after.
