My questions is if you are outsourcing your writing for your book, how good can the book be? Usually authors are experts on the topic they are writing about so I kinda feel like I’m cutting the readers short by finding some writer to write on a topic they aren’t experts on. What do you think?
Hey Chris, good question. I never claim to be an expert in any of my books (unless I wrote it myself or feel I have value to provide on the subject). I market my books as resources that can help people solve X problem, by compiling some of the best stuff out there and selling it. You don’t need to be an expert to provide value to others and have others feel it’s worthwhile enough to pay for it. If I have a book called “10 Paleo Diet Recipes To Lose Weight”, I can help people with those Paleo Diet recipes and market it from the angle that I’m just a regular person that decided to together these recipes to help others lose weight. You can state that you’re not a weight loss expert and be up front in your marketing. The bottom line is, if people receive value from your books and leave positive reviews and you’re helping people, then that is the ultimate goal. If your book sucks and doesn’t help people, then you are doing people a disservice (and I’m not about that).
Alternatively, you can find experts on certain subjects as well and either a) interview them and turn it into a book, or b) use Guru.com or other freelancer websites to find experts to write the book for you. Or you can write yourself… I’ve done that before too on certain subjects that I wouldn’t consider myself an “expert” on. But again, you don’t have to be or claim to be an expert (I still don’t claim to be one!), but just someone that created something to add value to others.

Value in information = Knowing MORE on the subject than the person you’re selling to. You don’t need to be an expert to provide value.

I watched your video about making money on kindle publishing. The one thing I didn’t get an answer to is how to get ranked on Amazon so that your ebook is close as possible to the top? I know the more it sells the higher you go but how do you get your ebook going & out in the open view from under the hundreds of other ebooks to begin with (before your ebook starts to sell & hence ranks on its own).

What would you recommend to people who don’t want to publish something to the english market but for example me to the market in Germany? There are no german speaking people we could hire for 2-3 €/h to write a book for us.
So true and unfortunately I have this mindset; that I have to be the one doing everything, master everything before doing anything when I can get someone to do it for me. That cost me a lot cause I often get discouraged seeing the amount of things to learn.
I think I fear that if I don’t do it myself it won’t be as good as if I let someone else doing it. So many times I found myself in this situation.
What I should do it’s do the big work and find people to do or help me w the details (ex:write my book and find someone for editing, correcting, cover, marketing…) and during the process I could try to learn a thing or two from these people…
