The family could have done something, they told officials they were going to make sure the firearms were removed!
We need to bring back asylums, but with controls to prevent abuses. Mental health can never be addressed by putting those suffering on the streets to cause more suffering.
As a nation, we need more mental health facilities now! We need to better help our veterans and all occupations that work with death due to guns, whether from war or violence. These are stressful but necessary jobs that deserve extra special mental health services. You can’t just let them deal with these issues on their own. We also need better support/programs for teenagers. As a country, we spend millions of dollars studying things and then never doing anything to fix the problems we’ve studied. Around and around we go but never give help to the people who deserve it!!!!!

As another broken community is left to pick up the pieces left behind by failed policy.
It’s not the guns..We need MORE MENTAL HEALTH FACILITIES WITH QUALIFIED DOCTORS & AFFORDABLE FOR THOSE ON THE STREET. WE DON’T HAVE NEAR ENOUGH. MENTAL HEALTH HAS BEEN IN ISSUE IN THE MAJORITY, IF NOT ALL CASES.
Agree with the part about needing more mental health workers (are you volunteering to reeducate yourself?) but blaming mental health on ALL #GunViolence is simply brushing the matter under the rug. 😡

“See something, say something”….. has become equivalent to “sending prayers and thoughts” as the extent of a response to mass shootings that our government officials have to offer.
“Law enforcement” is the only profession where you can literally do nothing that’s required of you and still have your job. Never any accountability.
