After 118 days of strikes, the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) has reached a tentative deal with major Hollywood studios valued at $1 billion. The union had been fighting for improved working conditions, protections against misuse of artificial intelligence, and increased residuals for streaming projects. Specific terms of the deal will be made public on Friday pending ratification by the SAG-AFTRA national board. The lengthy strikes had disrupted film and TV production, impacting Los Angeles’ economy.
Yahoo Finance senior reporter Alexandra Canal analyzes how the approval of this deal could get Hollywood back on track.
