The lady that passed away was in a wheelchair and was on oxygen from another video I watched. Also they said one of the doors on the boat flew open and started bringing in water. Not sure why they waited until water was at their shoulders to start taking action. But maybe panic took over, not knowing how to swim, the thought of sharks, and choppy water.
what do you mean by start to take action?
In the other video I watched a person on the boat stated they were all waiting for the staff and captain to advise of their next steps when the water started rushing in. And it wasn’t until the water was shoulder height that they “ppl onboard” realized they should probably start putting on their life jackets.
@Cleeee Maybe, I dont know I didnt see it. But Im pretty sure anyone should know that when you’re on a boat and it’s going down, you should put on a life vest before anything else
Screaming solves zero. Get a grip of yourself and think!
the tour boat company statement “All on board are accounted for”…….such as the one in the morgue?? Sad news.
Everyone just panicking instead of thinking clearly. They could have just swim to shore instead of wasting energy on panic mode.
Not a lot of safety features, nor staff members trained for an incident like this?
That why iwontgo ob on a cruise
I’m just looking at how nice the water is
Hard to fathom someone 75 yrs old in a wheelchair on O2 getting into ANY water craft that size with a life jacket as the only safety device.
bad idea to bring her on board on a bad weather day to begin with.
there is no other special lifesaving equipment for people in wheel chairs,
other than a life preserver, even in the US.
She thought she was living her life to the fullest.
This is so sad. No one knew this was coming, and I’m sorry they had to go through this. RIP
Yeah, I’m sure no one. Look at that 30 year old non maintained house boat on the ocean. Noone ever saw that one coming.
It be real 🤟
You most be from the Bahamas.
Already in the USA tourists is not going to visit the Bahamas. The boat crew abandoned ship before the tourists. Typical coward’s.
@Shaolin Soldier Me? No, I was just there on a cruise.
Before you get on anything, plan on how you will get off it. In an emergency.
Get off the boat….duh.
This is why I won’t book any excursions lead by bahamians
So glad the sharks didn’t appear… I’ve heard there are many lurking in those waters.
Likely a leak in the stuffing box/shaft area
or loose hull fitting, which allowed flooding below deck,
causing the boat to ride low, take on more water,
and then sink.
People all on the top deck changed the center of gravity,
and put on side of the boat into the water even further,
hastening the sinking.
Probably lack of or inoperable high level warning alarms in wheel house,
and always insufficient amount and capacity of bilge and emergency/crash pumps.
SpongeBob jihad pants
Sorry this happened. This is why I don’t do deep deep waters. I can’t swim and this is a fear of mine.
6 feet deep and 1000 feet deep are exactly the same if you can’t swim.
if you can’t stand up and breath, you die, so anything 6 feet or more you drown,
so 7 feet deep and 5,000 feet deep, exact same risk for you.
Hopefully you will eventually learn to swim! It’s a skill worth working on, especially for your safety, but also because it is fun!
Sinking boat with everyone having life jackets and land within view of like 400 yards…
I’m confused..what’s there to panic about.
I’d jump in the water. Lol how do you even get injured?
did the woman have a life jacket?
DO NOT PANIC! That’s the worst honestly…
A reminder that I need to take swimming lessons. So sad 😞
Titanic
All those pink ppl becoming shark food.
You need the staff to tell you to put on your life jackets?🤦🏻♂️
Sad
Someone is to blame here for not caring about other passenger’s deadly situation.
lol, everyone freaking out over nothing, it’s just a little bit of water, haha
Go and swim without a life jacket.
It had a hole that wasn’t properly repaired why else would it take on water
Blaming the ocean. I would check on the E6000 glue they used to piece that cheap water ride together.
😄
I hope they got travel insurance . This is scary but at least they were close to land and had life jackets. So scary
So terrifying! However, the crew members should be highly trained for situations like this and ready to jump in action for the safety of every passenger. It’s disheartening to hear that one passenger said the crew member were crying and not giving out instructions.
This is horrible. Accident can happen anytime, anywhere. Prayers to all.
God did this.
The ferry company made missteps. Find: Family family recounts being on sinking ferry in Bahamas
As passengers, for starters, ask up front: Where are the life jackets, get them out and show us.
Sounds like the crew wasn’t fully trained.
@Zenmasterzzz your ignorance is astounding
Good thing they all managed to get life jackets on and the water was warm. Hellishly surreal for the poor folks on board watching it unfold. “Is this really
happening”, panicking, then not even having time to think as it capsizes. For non-swimmers on board a true horror.
The water looks gorgeous
I’m confused how did she sink don’t they have life jackets on?
Sounds like complete incompetence. Hope this company is shut down.
No one was calm no one looked out for the elderly…..you can literally see land in the distance
Just makes me cry smh
Yes because during an emergency you wait for instructions
This happened because the people running the ferry were not prepared for emergencies. Zero training on what to do. They will get sued but I highly doubt a small ferry operator would have enough money to pay the damages.
mecanic cloth stuck on the main bilge pump?
That’s awful and sad. I’d be terrified to go into that water, just because of the Sharks. I realize they would likely not attack anyone. But growing up I was afraid to enter the deep end of the pool for fear a shark might come out of nowhere let alone the Bahamas where I know the little aggressive ones run rampant and you get to see them in the crystal clear water.
This is why I stay off boats. I don’t even like bridges
Crying and freaking out. Women crewmembers?
Hmmm what could possibly go wrong….let’s see the boat was top heavy and unbalanced which helped it to list and take on water.
0:55 Wow they gotta hire some better people.
Different countries have different safety conditions. People should always be aware of risks
Thats sad. RIP to that unfortunate woman.
When I see this, I wonder is it better to jump into the water with your life vest on and get away from the boat as it sinks? Seems that it’s more dangerous to be on or near the boat as it goes down. Neither is great but I’m wondering from anyone who knows, what is the better option. Especially because the water didn’t seem turbulent. So maybe floating in your vest is better. And people could link together so no one gets lost
So sad
Her heart will go on.
I wonder why the boat sank like that??😮🤔
I was on a boat like that if not the same one in the Bahamas on my cruise last Christmas.
Free money rt
Who cares i got real problems
Maybe the 72 have heart problem and bec a lot of people are panicking that aggravate her condition. May she rest in peace. Usually part of traveling accidents happen.
What r they doing @ a vacation tour?
Hope they knew Jesus
Thanks Lord for your peace
This why I don’t do air planes/carnival rides (scared of heights) and boats (can’t swim) im too paranoid thinking something WILL go wrong 😭
The top of that boat looks glued on. If I ever cruise I’m staying on the ship.
Stupid tourists waiting to be told what to do……simiular to 911………………be alert and make your own decisions
Wrong…. the Colorado passenger was NOT pulled from the water unresponsive. She was alive on the rescue vessel and experienced medical distress shortly before the rescue vessel docked on New Province Island, Nassau.
Since it was a double decker, probably were more people on the top level then the lower making the top became too top heavy. Very sad to hear about the one lady, and happy the rest are safe bc the sharks are extremely fierce in the Bahamas. Luckily no one was attacked by them.
Who else doesn’t believe Karen’s narrative about the crew crying hysterically?
As a licensed captain and lifelong mariner there is a lot more to this story than someone trying to get their two minutes of internet fame. What most none mariners call rough seas is not rough seas. Instantly blaming the crew shows a lack of emotional maturity.
LOL I just watched this on tiktok, I’m surprised to see the news covering it. Sorry to hear about the death
So she’s recording our boat is sinking, laughing out loud people on those phones
It’s so sad they take all those people out on a boat but have no emergency protocols…. not even inflatable boats were stored on board.
How does this happen
The buddy system in a crisis works wonders.
I’ve been to the Bahamas. Once was enough.
only way that can happen to a Catamaran is a hull breach. might of hit a rock or a reef . At worst could of been damages from it’s normal use. THis also happens to air planes. Wing fatigue that requires replacement at certain intervals . Going to be interesting to find out what happened 🤔🤔😱😱
“staff freaking out and crying”. Way to go. These employees need to be sued. This is why its so important to trust your gut. I would have jumped out.
“Exceptionally Choppy” Really? You cannot even term this as “Rough Seas”?? I think they are going to find some type of negligence on the crew or the owners that allowed the water to come in. There is no way the sea state at that time caused it to sink. Possibly the crew did not close a valve, or the owners did not keep up on maintenance. Those seas were relatively calm.
OMG! I was just on that shore excursion from the Oasis of the Seas, three weeks ago to the day! The water just before the entrance to the “lagoon” was pretty rough the day we were there, too. My wife, kids, and in-laws watched from the beach as the boats rocked going in and out of the opening between the lagoon and the sea.
Pansy
old boat initial thought is a hole from age. I just got back from the bahamas all the boats looked very old.
The boat was also too full this will never happen in Cuba even with their old boats thanks to America for the senseless sanctions smfh they are more focused on safety the Bahamas is focused on money
😔
Biden did it
I didn’t see the crew crying; they were trying to save the passengers’ lives. The woman was just trying to get paid.
I saw a video of an old lady when the water came in
Stay away from the waters its that simple
They are lucky there’s no sharks in that area of the ocean.
Your Lord (is) the One Who drives for you the ship in the sea, that you may seek of His Bounty. Indeed, He is to you Ever Merciful. (Al-Israa’ 17:66)
And when touches you the hardship in the sea, lost (are) who you call except Him Alone. But when He delivers you to the land you turn away. And is man ungrateful. (Al-Israa’ 17:67)
Do you then feel secure that (not) He will cause to swallow you, side (of) the land or send against you a storm of stones? Then not you will find for you a guardian? (Al-Israa’ 17:68)
Or do you feel secure that (not) He will send you back into it time another, and send upon you a hurricane of the wind, and drown you because you disbelieved? Then not you will find for you against Us therein an avenger? (Al-Israa’ 17:69)
I actually have a Rez for this exact excursion in December. Crazy, I’ll be canceling
Beautiful water not to mean mean but I would love to been there and swim in that water
Did a shark eat his butt or did he drowndit at sea?
Feel sad for those who can’t afford to travel to Bahamas😢
Wow😮
Hahahhaha they’re 400 yards away from shore!!!! Quit acting like its the titanic. Wow. Swim home you pansies.
Staff were scared, can only mean one thing absolutely no training given to the crew.in proper life saving and most likely operation of the boat. 😢
All you end to do is swim.
And a Sign for them (is) that We carried their offspring in the ship laden. (Yaa Siin 36:41)
And We created for them from (the) likes of it what they ride. (Yaa Siin 36:42)
And if We will, We could drown them; then not (would be) a responder to a cry for them, and not they would be saved, (Yaa Siin 36:43)
Except (by) Mercy from Us and provision for a time. (Yaa Siin 36:44)
Probably shouldn’t hv had so many on that boat.
You have a lifejacket and you see the boat will 100 % sinking and you need instructions what to do ?! Really ? Maybe get off the freakin boat !
