Diplomatic efforts to end the war are increasing around the world.
In Beijing, government officials have hosted a delegation from the Palestinian Authority, Indonesia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan to discuss how China could act as a mediator.
The summit, during which China pledged to work to “restore peace in the Middle East,” is seen as part of a push by Beijing to step up its international role.
