The income property didn’t do all that well during the Covid either. A lot of people decided not to pay. And we couldn’t kick them out
and ignits paid you rent during Covid. 😂
A lot of rental property owners got messed up by covid too.
I’ve never seen any of these frozen yogurt shops full of customers. They’re a money pit unless you have a location somewhere people will be forced to patron your business; like a boardwalk or a mall (which are falling out of fashion in today’s world). You might as well buy a street corner stand in NY or something. You’d have less overhead for more profit AND be mobile.
I thought the same with Mod Pizza and Project Pie back in 2013. I just didn’t qualify for getting a franchise at 23
No way if u want more money u need to work harder 🤯
Barf. Barf. Barf.
I don’t care about anything this guy says
But nobody knew what COVID would do. And good management and employee loyalty would build dependability from workers.
I’d like to see the comparison after 30 years
I will never have sympathy for landlords crying about losing money. You exploit human beings for profit
is that
Nathan For You??
Because of people like him, that do not want to work, we are facing a housing crisis and a lot of people are becoming homeless.
“wOw”
Food Franchises are tough. Gotta have a ton of skill and patience/ experience to make it work
Very true
Invest in things that do not require employees because the work ethic today is horrible.
When somone says they almost did somthing
Hope grant helped him with the “business covid return something” for businesses affected by covid that were deemed essential or still in operation, helped a old boss of mine and he got like 40k in returns
Frozen yogurt business vs Coffee shop 😂
Who the hell wants frozen yogurt? 😂 😂 😂
I think that the intention of the plandemic was to decimate small business.
Alot of restaurants did the same thing with hardly any customers.
LA lost 70% of its restaurants during that time so this isn’t a good example
Yeah…no.
buying yogurt is optional…housing not so much
Almost as if people don’t want to work for low ass wages . Who would’ve thunk
You also pay more taxes as an employer but less taxes as a landlord
He had to be there every day, because his employees weren’t all there every day, and he only gets more than all of them combined 😨😨
*trust fund baby finds out he has to work for a real living*
Business is definitely not for the faint of heart.
It’s impossible to run a business in California with the cost of doing business and the wages and the workman’s comp expenses
wow so it takes effort to make money? didnt see that coming😂
Snak attack….yucan ok
Oh! The horror of having to work for your business! 😢
I couldn’t imagine having to physically open my very own store😮
I could just be a landlord and leech off of people that have to live in a box.
Sorry… Looking to buy a house and these ‘passive income’ people are destroying the housing market for families. Not only are houses hard to find, but rents are getting jacked up from all of these people overpaying to ‘invest’ …. Greed is a sonofabitch
All basic problems from owning a food business. There is too much information out there to not know what can happen when you own a food business. Owning a rental property has its problems too. But, I think a rental property is a more safer move. Meh…
First mistake: living in California.
Being your own boss or working for someone else. That’s what you chose.
Active vs Passive
So i have a wife and a daughter and my wifes mom and brother live with me i make 7300 a month doing construction working 60 a week and i have little ability to save but with what i am able to save i don’t know what to do with thats actually going to be successful i hate my life and want more time with my family im pretty computer smart but also want to start something with food or even a pressure washing company anything where im in charge of my hours and wages
Im 20 btw
Yeah but he got his money back from the goverment rent and salary if u did not make money on corana time
Happened to a friend of mine as well. Covid ruined a lot of businesses
He’s one of the reasons so many people will never own a home.
The employees will call you
That’s why there aren’t any retail establishments any more.
It’s just sticking with your gut and what you know best.
Graham has been in real estate for so long that he made a choice to go with that instead, compared to starting out with a franchise that on paper looks good but is not his forte.
He wasn’t greedy about the money, he just knew that it would be less of a mental load it is for him to stick with a property.
Being a business owner, no matter what industry comes with a lot of risks. I think a lot of people here just don’t take that into consideration. It’s not about “working hard”, he already did that, that’s how he amassed most of his wealth. Now he is just leveraging the money he has to make more. Now it’s about preserving it and “working smart”.
Not a lot of people know that when he started he took small contracts none of the other people in his office would take and just worked his ass off.
My husband and I have been doing rental properties for the last 30 years. It’s very profitable when you have long term tenants who respect your property and pay their rent on time.
Worst experience of my life was owning franchises for 10 years! Living nightmare! (It’s a GREAT Teacher though)
Frozen yogurt is a fad whose time has come and gone.
Except that dumbass point during covid where your tenants were allowed to not pay rent and you legally couldn’t evict them
You couldn’t pay me enough to open a business in LA. The regulations, the homelessness, the crime just to name a few!
1st mistake trusting randos to run ur business 😂
A lot of places went under. Some states send checks to help open business
Mf said wait, I have to actually work too?😂😂
I’ve been researching investment brokers and I’m really interested in working with someone trustworthy and reliable. With the recent market downturn I’m looking for a broker who can help me turn things around and make a profit Can anyone tell me about their experiences with any investment advisor!
I’ve seen some excellent reviews online about Dustin Dwain King. While I haven’t personally worked with him, the feedback from others seems overwhelmingly positive. It might be worth giving him a try based on what I’ve seen online.

I saw him online, and many of his investors had good things to say, so I decided to give him a shot. It turns out, he’s just the best! His fees are reasonable, and he tailors investment plans to fit each individual’s financial goals.
Must be nice to have rich parents….
These channels are goofy ashhh
Having to let employees call in sick? Oh, the horror
Any time someone whines that they lost millions I can’t help but think that the vast majority of people don’t have millions to lose.
I always tell everyone, owning a business that is 100% reliable upon perishable items, is a one way road to Bankruptcy.
Can’t focus on what he’s saying cuz I’m too occupied thinking about the poop flavoured froyo video going on in between
Weird that it takes more money to pay an employee and to make a perishable product plus rent than to just close and pay rent 🙄, what a wash, i love whoever edited nathan into this video though, he graduated from a Canadian business school with really high grades, probably wouldve had a unique solution for this particular business problem
In all fairness, no one saw Covid coming except maybe Bill Gates 😂
i dont want to hear a single damn thing about work ethic from these guys. this pathetic man turned down 30% returns because of the prospect of having to actually kinda do a job
Buying a rental property though the real estate appreciates. You would typically lease the yogurt business
How many land lords were ruk ed by cpvid? A lot.
From what I’ve seen online grant is a horrid landlord
That’s the benefit of commoditizing a core need for human existence 🤡
These comments, I’m glad everyone is on the same page 😂 yea there was literally thousands of “entrepreneurs” opening shitty yogurt shops pretending to do business. A franchise is still a full on business, you can’t just pick the days you decide to open lol. Not only was it over saturated AF but also with a shitty product noone wanted and they didn’t take any of it seriously, so they all shut down almost immediately.
The hypocrisy of “work hard to make money” to “I can’t bother to work hard for 30% return” is pretty wild even Graham I feel would cringe at
Ok. Covid is kinda an outlier for food businesses. He couldn’t have possibly took a possible pandemic into consideration
These comments… It is either jealousy or stupidity… Imagine being able to enjoy life because of a passive income. Such a bad thing right?
It’s better to work at a shitty job for all your life, to earn a bit of money, while having almost no time to enjoy it.
At least at the end of your lives you can say “I worked hard” but did you enjoy life?…
I really don’t get it, even in CA.
I just don’t see even 200 people in a market, nearby of say 10k people actually making the effort, to go to a Yogurt shop more than 1-2 times a week. When they can just go to a grocery store.
Ads for scams like this used to found in a tiny ad in the back of a magazine.
Realistic market analysis is required.
It’s very sad seeing this happen to young people. Near me a young lady rented a very expensive commercial space in a strip mall.
She opened a second hand store.
Two blocks away from a huge Goodwill store.
😥 Didn’t last long.
🤔 30%, is nothing in retail.
You need 100% so you can have a 50% off sale. 😉
Anything less can only be supported by volume that is high and consistent.
how much you make on a rental property depends on whether or not you have a mortgage.
Cinnabon is a huge rip off of a franchise. I love their product but will never open that franchise.
🤣 My father warned me decades ago.
“Never go into the restaurant business.
Employees don’t show up and you always have to be there.”
This is a gamble because I know franchised yogurt shops that survived Covid and with a rental property you could have a person that completely obliterates your property
Did he have a poop flavor?
His word use is odd. “I almost franchised a yogurt shop.” That would mean he is selling franchises… what he did was almost purchase a franchise.
Macdonald’s doesnt profit from food its profit is real estate and franchising licensing and advertising and some medical and charities. Coffee icecream fast food and sugary junk food are rumored to be partnered with big pharma, they make you fatter or diabetic to profit big pharma.
I thought that was comin sense spell check activate….
This man had vision. It worked. I don’t know why so many of you here are so critical that he made a decision that worked out for him, while his friend lost it all. Owning a business like that is hard, because people don’t want to work anymore. My son is in restaurant management, and he’s going to have to fire half his staff today for good reason. But now he has to work on Thanksgiving, because his franchise is inside a travel center opened 24/7/365.
Never criticize someone for making a better business decision. And btw, no one said this man is rich. You people are the reason Cali is in the toilet.
Bros face just pisses me off
Tell me if I’m wrong but he looks like a mixture of Tom cruise and Peter Parker
Feel so bad for ppl that lost anything they loved to Covid…
If you pay a better wage across the entire economy then employees are more reliable there is less turnover and theft. 4XR one bedroom apartment local is the minimum wage under the minimum wage act as legislated instead of decreed. What is the normal legal minimum wage in your area.
Covid didnt ruin him. Covid dictators stole his ability to make money.
I would buy a business over a piece of real estate any day. It’s not even close.
…yeah, running a successful business is very difficult… 😟
Suggesting firing a coworker for calling in sick, but deciding not to becausr you’d have to fill the shift yourself🤦♂️exemplary leadership
Yet another example of landlords being parasites. It’s not that crazy to have to work for a living.
Vending machines. Pretty sure you could make a frozen yogurt one
oh my bad i should totally work while sick to make everyone else sick
Wow your speaking about one of the big risks in starting a business….wow so profound…
Where’s the link to this whole episode please?
8-9% of stable income is always better
Danny duncan laughing
F&B businesses are the worst!
Long term versus short term success
Pat yourself on the back
Being a landlord is nothing to brag about The American dream cannot exist in a country where landlording is so acceptable like this
You were in no better position with the rent moratorium and pissed off renter to tear up the place.
