Personally, I’m all for AI regulation. AI has opened the flood gate for disinformation or possibly worse. AI is a powerful tool, but it’s an even stronger weapon.

Probably the biggest AI abuse I’ve seen so far are Youtube AI generated thumbnails on sensationalist WW2 pseudo slide show documentaries. These creators punch some sensationalist text prompt into an art generator, and come up with a image for a thumbnail that is not historically accurate and just made for shock and click value. These are not the old hat WW2 documentary creators… that are usually pretty stand up legit… these are a new breed just trying to garner views with WW2 click bait.

In a test AI was more judged to be morally superior to the faculties of most US unis. It described many as showing Antisemetism which the AI said was morally repugnant.
AI doesn’t have values. Everything in that context was programmed into it. It’s incapable of having opinions or desires or motivations. In order for it to make a choice it has to be told which things humans like or dislike and then if you program it to make decisions that humans like it will pick the option that we want it to pick, but there’s no magic there. It’s just a very convoluted form of self-affirmation.

How the hell is AI going to be “regulated”? We are entering post-politics (as Cody Wilson puts it). You can not regulate individuals experimenting with stuff they make themselves. AI, computing, and the internet regulate government. Not the other way around. Once someone creates and releases any kind of software, it can not be removed.
