Intel (INTC) is stepping on the gas pedal on AI-enabled autonomous driving systems in an effort to penetrate the US auto market.
Intel Automotive Vice President and GM Jack Weast sits down with Yahoo Finance’s Akiko Fujita at CES 2024 (Consumer Electronics Show) to discuss Intel’s AI chip integration to vehicle systems to create more unique and enhanced user experiences.
“This new lineup of products brings the best of the AI PC and all the reliability of the data center into the vehicle so automakers can evolve their architecture away from fixed-function to software-defined and dynamic architectures going forward,” Weast says.

AI in our cars is the worst thing that could ever happen to us. You think they listen to you now thru your phone? Guess what? You will be listened to always. They will know where you go, when you go, how much gas, where you eat, how fast you’re going, Its horrible. If you dont pay your car payment the car will just drive away on it’s own. You will have a profile in your car. It will factor in to your social credit score. Insurance will be charged by the mile. Taxes by the mile. So invasive, so evil.
All of these things break, need to be financed and parts will be very difficult to replace in 12 years. Technology moves fast so your cars Technology is obsolete in 2 years! No parts!
Some of that i agree with, other parts are confused guesswork.
@crimsonpirate1710 guess work? Just calling it like I see it and I’m usually pretty close.
Which part is guess work, that they can tell what you eat? Guess again because you’ll be able to literally pay from your car apps.
Please enlighten me.
Just what we need is more distractions in our vehicles……….

I heard nothing about how multi-cars on the road communicate with each other, seems that is more important than playing games in the car! Car is the thing which mishandled could get you killed, that is a very high possibility, seems Intel is just another company dipping into the Auto sector without any common sense understandings as regarded above.
If trains, trams and buses retained their popularity, we would have workspace on wheels everywhere, without the need for expensive tech, horrific traffic jams and ‘breathtaking’, dangerous pollution. And better human socialization as well…
The integration of chiplets into Intel’s products for automakers is intriguing. It remains to be seen how much traction it will get but if it is one tenth of the cost of what is now possible, it seems like a plausible approach toward integrating technology in new EV’s.
