The so-called Non-Aligned Movement of Developing Countries, known as NAM, is calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and for aid to flow into the strip without any restrictions. The statement came on the last day of this year’s NAM Summit.

“Immediate implementation of the two state solution” YES! This is the starting position, not the end goal. The negotiation of settler removal, right of return/reparations and border security must be done from a position of Palestinian sovereignty and equality.
There is NO Palestinian leader who will EVER accept a two state solution and recognize Israel right to exist! None of the Arabs will ever agree to it!

It means complete right of return and equality. Not just to the 1967 territories. People expelled from Jaffa, Haifa, Akka all should also be granted return, if Israel remains they should be granted Israeli passports and full rights. If Israel denies right of return it should not exist

The reality is that OF COURSE they would choose two states over occupation. So let it be done. Given the occupation is illegal and abhorrent.
And OF COURSE what they really want is the entirety of their land back. So do all dispossessed indigenous people.
But unfortunately, the atrocity of settler colonialism has occurred, irreversibly to some degree. As an Australian, I understand very well that some people on stolen land have nowhere else to go.
This is the case with some Israelis. It’s not the case with illegal settlers who must relocate to Israel in a two state solution.
When activists say ‘from the river to the sea’ they mean one state with equal rights. A dismantling of apartheid per South Africa.
It is by far the best solution, and I believed in it myself until recently. In recent months I have come to understand the extreme racism and brutalisation that has infused Israeli culture as a consequence of Zionism and maintaining occupation – they’re too far gone.

Let’s be realistic and approach this problem practically. It’s not about who is right or wrong, it’s about suffering citizens. Call for the release of hostages. While I agree, I find it interesting how “Non aligned” countries are more active and seem to be taking a proactive role in this conflict rather than Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which they seem to largely ignore…
Ukraine was supported by not only by the US but by the entirety of Europe as well, while in the case of Palestine the US and eu has basically abandoned them, and the civilian death toll has reached a horrifying number. they didn’t ignore the invasion, they condemned it and because everyone in the west unilatterally supported Ukraine so they didnt need to be as active.

Why is it, that everyone else is trying to make decisions for the people of Palestine? Just for once, can they not have their full autonomy in saying what they actually want? It seems to be an intellectual discussion for so many, but when you have a brutal occupier like Israel, what state would Palestine get? Probably even less land, than has had already been stolen from them over the last 75 years. Palestine must be free, and their voices need to be at the table to decide what going forward looks like. Not just one or two representatives – but the people of Palestine should have their full rights of self-determination.
