I think the narrator doesn’t know what she is talking about. So PDD’s market share beat Alibaba’s? In which market? Just because the market cap of PDD exceeds that of Alibaba’s recently does not mean it’s market share did or whether that company did better. Whilst PDD’s Temu is seen everywhere esp. in a market like the US, it may be doing well in the US, but does AliExpress operate in the US? Let’s take Russia as a market, AliExpress was quite dominant. And like what Joe said AliExpress is focusing on Turkey. Just because AliExpress isn’t seen in the US as much does not mean it’s not going okay. Yes while Alibaba’s Lazada is not going as well in the SE Asia market, but in many other markets Alibaba is going okay. Still have positive P/E and cash earnings. Does PDD have a positive P/E? Back on the market cap issue, just because of a high market cap doesn’t mean the company is doing, I mean look at companies like Lucid Motors and Fisker or cryptos (the non-BTC/ETH aka “shitcoins”) they all once had super high market caps, does that mean they are great companies or investments? Market hype and speculation isn’t a good indicator of a value proposition. But what I can say is Alibaba needs to focus long term and which assets deliver and divest which assets are not performing similar to what Uber did in the market when the company was struggling.
Well said
exactly. Thats why Alibaba is a way better business. More value now at a discount
I love his honesty about the company’s difficulties. You are the right man to lead this company.
Tsai is an impressive fellow
Alibaba all day everyday over PDD. PDD has nothing. Alibaba has way more business and can rely on way more income streams. PDD higher marketcap currently , lets wait a year or 2 lol . Hype says nothing. Value says all. Alibaba is super cheap still
