I find it fascinating that some have argued that the Voting Rights Act does not apply becasue the Constitution leaves the voting process solely up to the states. Now states are taking them up on it, and they are asking the Supreme Court to intervene.
The Voting Rights Acts deals with discrimination of voters. Trump removal from the ballot is based on the Constitution requirements for holding the office (Article 2 Clause 5, and the Amendment 14.3). Read them. Voters feelings or opinions are not part of the latter.

The Constitution in 14.3 doesn’t require a conviction (being found guilty), it addresses participation or offering comfort to insurrectionists (paraphrasing). A conviction for insurrection is NOT a requirement in 14.3.
