How many countries have China invaded? Now, how many have the U.S. invaded and how many millions of foreign civilians have they killed – think Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, etc? Considering Japan is backing the U.S./Israel which is committing genocide in Gaza, I wouldn’t pay a whole lot of attention to their ambassador.
I was in Japan when Japan then the US pivoted to opening full access and free trade with Communist China, gambling with the untested idea that globalization and free market integration, would somehow incentivize China (and Russia), to become full functioning Western democracy.
These policies were supposed to have created a more safer, peaceful world through mutually beneficial and reciprocal partnership with China. They abysmally failed. Instead, these policies created a larger, more dangerous adversary, a resurgent China with imperialistic dreams of global dominance. The so called equitable partnership in hindsight was always unfair, one-sided, and abusive, and favored Beijing. The unprecedented access to enormous sums of international investment and cutting edge technology, either legally enforced or surreptitiously stolen, from the West, leap frogged China from obsolescence to military and economic superpower status that rivals our own with unimaginable speed. All because of our hubris, naivete, and acquiescence to corporate greed.
