SNL recently did a game show sketch where the prize was a turtle and the winner would have to take care of it for the next 100+ years. None of the contestants wanted to be the winner.
Turtles need water generally to submerge in, feed in & thrive . A tortise is strictly a land dwelling creature , often in dry , or desert like biomes.

Tortoise’s ages are measured by studying their shell growth, so a zoologist would have confirmed Jonathan’s age.
But he’s a kid compared to some Arctic sharks, one of whom was estimated to be around 400 years old.

Jonathan is not the oldest in the world. We have 300 years tortoise 🐢 in Nigeria Ibadan palace
Do more research, before making any announcements. Visit Kenya Bamburi nature trails and see for yourself. We have the oldest tortoise in the world or maybe they are some more in other countries in Africa.
