China’s EV giant, BYD, makes more electric vehicles than any of its competitors and sells them for as low as $10,000. The cars are not yet sold in the U.S., where hurdles include a 25% import tariff. China produces millions of tons of McDonald’s burgers and hundreds of millions of cups of Starbucks every day. 30% Chinese use iphone, and the streets are full of Tesla. However, the US has never allowed good Chinese products to enter the US market, such as new electric cars and Huawei phones. It can only allow cheap clothes and cheap daily products, and then tell American ppl, look, the Chinese are taking our jobs. That’s very unfair.

Tarif is not the only reasons BYD can’t enter US market. It has to do with safety compliance. The US cars has certain safety standards in regards to windshields, seatbelts, chassis etc. all of these put in must put in to account and that 10k EV won’t be looking like a 10k anymore.

So it sounded like a bargain and many people bought it. Not even a month passes by people were already complaining about the quality of the car… A few months later cars were breaking down and many GEELY car dealerships had to shut down because of the negative feedback from the people and the press.
There is a reason it’s 10,000 dollars just remember that. You get what you pay for.
