Baby Heaven: The Buried Stories of Camp Lejeune, for the first time five mothers detail their heart-break: veteran marines, wives and daughters most of whom are sick themselves, all of whom lost babies after being exposed to the toxic water at Camp Lejeune. Their journeys are filled with pain and fury as they confront the ways they say they’ve been lied to and deceived for decades. We hear from scientists, whistle-blowers and insiders including the General called by Congress to testify about one of the biggest contaminations and cover-ups in U.S. history. A chemist who told the brass at Camp Lejeune in 1982 the water was contaminated with cancer-causing dry cleaning fluid but said they seemed “indifferent” ; a civilian water system operator who says he was told to send toxic water to people’s homes after senior staff insisted on watering the base golf course; the General who says he and the Commandant were lied to by the command at Camp Lejeune, while acknowledging no one was ever punished. And finally, we visit a section of a Jacksonville, North Carolina cemetery called “Baby Heaven” as these mothers search for their children and the truth.

This is so sad and pitiful 😭
This is so very very heartbreaking😢😢😢
😢how incredibly sad and infuriating
I cried the whole time I watched this , these poor people having such horrible things happen to them , my heart goes out to them !
This is the very reason I encouraged my children not to serve in the military. I have no trust in our government. God bless all that serve.
And I totally agree with you and if I had kids I’d forbid them to serve this wicked country!
Unfortunately my neighbor son’s went to the military right after they graduated. Although their parents didn’t want them to go 😳.So, far I haven’t heard anything bad about the service. I guess it just depends on the location of the stationary where they are at 🤷. My 💔 goes out to the families that had to endure all of this tragedy 😥.
Same. I told my son that I would break his dang leg myself if he even thought about joining any branch of the service. My sister was a Marine during Dessert Storm. She came home with a skin condition that never went away. Who knows what they all have been injected with or exposed to.
@@cherisehughey1122 it really depends on the locations. My sister is married to a Marine. They have been together for roughly 22 years. They have two kids, one born on a base in Spain. Thankfully they are well. He retired three years ago. He served for about 23 years.
To the woman with the still born baby girl 55 years ago, She would be two years older than me. And three years younger than my oldest sister. One year older than my other sister. This breaks my heart for her and her family, to think of who and what she could and would have been! I’m so sorry for that loss for your family!
Did they cremate babies and toss the aches?
The terms “government” and “full disclosure” don’t work well together.
These ladies. 😢
This what I don’t understand why fight for your country why your doesn’t fight for you?? 😭
Go to the Library…
Correction, When your country doesn’t fight for you??
My son, his wife & their 2 infant children just spent 4 yrs living on-base at Camp Lejeune. I stayed w/ them a lot to help w/ my grandbabies. We NEVER drank the water or used it for cooking because even now, when it’s supposedly safe, it had a bad taste to it. They spent a fortune on bottled water for drinking & cooking. Thankfully my son recently got new orders & they’ve moved to a different state. #SemperFi 🇺🇸 #OohRah
This is truly heartbreaking – US government needs to sort this out now…F sending money overseas!!!
I live near a Navy base in California. My dad worked as a civilian there in the 60s and found that they were dumping oil, chemicals, basically anything and everything into the ground. They were also transferring that stuff to sand dunes about a mile from the base. There were homes that were later built there that eventually had to be evacuated and torn down. It makes you wonder how many lives have been destroyed by our military. Not just in war but at home too. These women and so many more like them need to be acknowledged and compensated for lives lost and ruined. I send Peace and Love to all of Camp Lejeune victims. 💚
This may be an ignorant question, but why did the bad water only affect unborn children, not the adults drinking it? So why on earth did they let the women know their baby was dead, but not induce labour or do something?? Sounds like the worse medical malpractice and cover up…makes Erin Brochovic seem tame…
Developing fetus’ are often hypersensitive to such toxins, especially during certain organ development early on. The earlier the exposure, the more systems are affected.
Like for the adults, the children exposed (in utero &/or during childhood) have a significant risk of developing certain cancers. No one escapes the toxic exposure, it just doesn’t manifest itself so obviously but health conditions other than cancer are possible.
Good question, it’s one way understanding the complex causes of various conditions can be hard to explain especially when such exposures are hidden/unknown.
It really aggravates me how many times people have been exposed to various toxic chemicals and those who knew better and responsible did nothing about it or some cases on purpose (Tuskegee, radiation exposure (civilians & military)
When you take the oath, you literally give your body to the government. They don’t care because they view people as replaceable assets. The military is a business. The CEOs of this company regularly send their employees directly in harm’s way to gain resources for itself. They literally don’t care.
😢 this is disgusting. These families should not have to wait any longer to be compensated.
This is so sad and wrong, my ❤goes out to the families 😢
My brother’s son served at Camp Lejeune. My nephew rallies with his buddies from the Marine Corps about the water at Camp Lejeune. I didn’t think about the babies that were affected. 😮😢
My Dad has almost everything on the list. He is presently dying.
So terrible for the men and women who suffer from this act of deliberate evil!
Let me say it since may won’t: THE BLACK BABIES WERE TRASHED😢
Maybe the organs were used, if possible….
😪
It was so horrible for so many losses, and our government kept covering it up. This is very sad!
Omg
So so greatful these ladies got to meet. Sending you all love light and healing!!
I’ve gotten brain cancer in 1995 just as my Grandmother got it in 1977 thru 1980. I was on the Colorado River and Grandmother was on the Detroit River. I did research on the issues with the water problems. I contacted Erin Brockovitch Ellis to ask what I need to do to get our water cleaned up? She said it’s filthy as Azz! So I wrote a letter to EPA to enforce BOTH Clean Water Acts– and they wrote to the Austin American Statesman saying No. They won’t enforce the Clean Water Acts. 🚱 What??? 😢
But Lejeune was even worse off. Idk who to contact to fix that issue. I’ve been praying for everyone there who has various health issues. 😢
Bye the way: both of my husband’s were USMC. So, we had problems too.
They exprimented on the black folks babies….
Are there any cemeteries geared to take care of Black people? Let me ask the guy who runs the Youtube for deceased people.
This infuriates me to no end that our government allowed this to happen to the families that served our country. This is what they got in return?! U HAVE NO IDEA HOW SICK I AM OF OUR GOVERNMENT !! I am horrified at the fact that I believe that any black babies were not given a burial like ones most likely were. I believe our government allowed biggots higher up to most likely incenerate the black babies. I just feel this deep in my soul. Makes the Marine Motto of Semper Fi and no one left behind as a sick joke to the Marines and their families even more hurtful to them and the American people.😢😢😢
I was a 25 year old women married to a marine in 1983 . I spent time with my husband there and became pregnant . After 7 weeks of feeling Terrible weakness and fatigue I returned home to Brooklyn to my parents home .1 week later I had a miscarriage. I always felt it was the food at Camp Lejeune . I returned to the base and luckily my husband was discharged and we returned home for good .
I’m one of those women
Except it was at another base
God bless these wonderful ladies… 🙏💜🙏💜 I haven’t heard of this before , I’ll be sharing it around. TFS.
My grandfather was at camp lejune in the late 60s into the mid 70s and died of cancer in 1985 at the age of 53. He was a marine who went to vietnam.
I thought they did their research to publish their brochure. When you research a topic you do a thorough job.
.from Minnesota Dept Health: How to remove TCE from water?
Activated carbon filtration can remove TCE from drinking water effectively. There are two type of filters: systems that treat water for a sink or refrigerator (point-of-use filter) and those that treat all water entering the home (whole-house filter)…….the fix too damned easy and cheap…………..so WHY were not steps taken to do this to provide the people safe clean drinking water? despite FACT many many babies and people destroyed…..seems the poisonings all quite deliberate….I mean the chemicals found their way into the water, no steps the rectify issue, no steps to provide safe clean water or alternate if they could not provide, no informing the people so they could make informed decisions surrounding the issue of their drinking water….someone in comments stated their daughter that served on base was eventually informed to boil the water which is wrong advice as the steam apparently becomes contaminated with the TCE and can be inhaled noted from Oregon dot gov
❤😢 How come these Black 🌸 Women 🌸 NOT have their Precious Children Not buried in this cemetery along with the White 🌸Women’s🌸Babies I pray 🙏🏻 for all of these Women as we as Women know how they feel.Such an injustice for humanity We are all Of a race of all being Human,I’m so disgusted 🤬 With the govern Navy for how all these Families have been treated and lied too Bless Yous All as You’s continue Your fight of injustice. 💖🥰🍀
Nothing upsets me more that these women went through this. And many of those babies with no markers.
God i wish i could give Jeri a huge hug. Her experience with her pregnancy is just horrific. Its cruel and barbaric of a US defence force to continue something they knew full well was not going to end well.
I say that about the US forces but ive no doubt my country is guilty of atrocities of sorts also.😡
Our veterans and familys regardless of nationality deserve so much better
Just wow …
I am a caregiver for VA Veterans, whom i have Thee UTMOST Respect for, & it is TRAGIC, & CRIMINAL, how the VA Hospital Sytem MISTREATS & NEGLECTS our Veterans🤬
The LIES, the Mistreatment, The Indifference, The NEGLECT, & the DECEPTION are ALL CRIMINAL.
PURE & SIMPLE.
And DISGUSTING.
And SHAMEFUL.
MUCH RESPECT for our Veterans, who SACRIFICED their LIVES, Their TIME, to work to serve a Government who could give TWO F@”#S ABOUT THEM, NOR Their Families. 😫🥺
WE CARE.
WE SEE.
WE KNOW.
WE ACKNOWLEDGE….Your Efforts, Your Work, Your Sacrifices, Your Hurts, Your Pains…We Acknowledge You ALLL🫡 ❤🤍💙
So the kids of color 🤔 what did they dl with them? This gets worse. ⚘️🧡✌🏾
❤
Im watching this from Sweden. My heart breaks for all people effected by this immense tragedy and coverup. I can’t imagine going through what this lady’s have gone through I’m so sorry for your loss! Sending you all my love ❤️
😭😭😭😭 My Heart hurts for these Women. I’m so sorry this happened to you
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Oh my heart. I am so sorry for these women. Hugs to each and every one of you. Love from Chicago.
Racism was still alive and kicking so we know they sidnt care about the melanin rich babies enough to give them a resting place. Smh. Just like their health issue prob take a back seat more than rhe others due to medical apartheid.. one day AMERICA will pay. Whether it were your ancestors and not u ur bloodlines have blood on ur hands genetically. Prayers and blessings to all these families and children.. the murder continues its 2024 and its not getting better just more strategically covered up
Was/is
Seems like that would wear a Officer out dealing with a person like her who kept arguing that she’s truthful
Yes, certainly, a tragedy. However, when you look at all the money paid to the families, a softened blow to say the least.
Always time limits to file claims for things like this. I wonder why that is?
I was a child poisoned by a known highly published Toluene pipeline rupture.
I was unable as a child to file a claim. And to know the extent of health issues it would cause then and in the years & for decades that followed me into the future. The window is closed to file a claim. There shouldn’t be time limits for claims. Imo
Litigation drags on for years because the responsible parties are always in the hope the claimants pass away before the claims are settled for pennies, with zero prison sentences, no one held accountable.
Look at Flint Michigan or East Palest¡ne Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Mississippi, the list IS ENDLESS. And ALL the other contaminated drinking/bathing water sites ACROSS the U.S. in the past and the PRESENT!!!
It’s disgusting that military men & WOMEN, and U.S citizens are so disposable to their government and the companies that are making record profits while continuing knowingly to commit premeditated M3rd3r. Because they are all just waiting for the affected to D¡3, imho.
I can’t imagine loosing a child and then Not even having a grave site to visit. Besides being intentionally poisoned by those IN CHARGE at the base that KNEW. That is an absolute DISGRACE for ALL these children to be treated as less than, it’s horrific. Imo.
My own sister in law is really sick, and my life long Marine brother has been gone 25 years.
48:10 I don’t understand the lady’s response. That was cold for her to act like that towards her at least hug her. 😏💔
😮cold blooded. She was nasty to that black lady. But was loving to the white lady. ❤Unbelievable 😢
@@BrownSugarBaby1992 Exactly! She shrugged her shoulders like, “Oh well” I found that to be a bit harsh.
1975 a girl born with spina bifida. Why? I used to say.? Born on base during delivery nurses “oh my God”. I kid you not. Told she wouldn’t make it til 11 . We buried her at 37. Then 2019 kidney cancer for me. . …………….and I pray for us all
Isnt this the training camp of the movie i love”full metal jacket” ?
This is so sad. Poor women. Poor babies
That General should be named in the lawsuit and be held accountable for his negligence.
An absolute government disgrace. Cover up. And they have the gall to put a deadline on lawsuits by August 2024. Claim should be indefinite.
😢 Heartbreaking for these mom’s and everyone else affected 💔
Rest in sweet paradise and peace babies you are loved.
✨️💖✨️🕊✨️ 🙏 ✨️🌹✨️ 👼 ✨️
🤯😭
Absolutely disgusting that black Americans baby’s were not buried like white people that’s beyond disgusting
ver ver very sad what these families went through, may all the precious soul find everlasting lives.
This is heartbreaking 😢
Americans aren’t good at looking after their own people 🤬
I feel sad for these people
I cried practically through this whole story. 😢😢😢
GOD HEAL the broken hearts 💕
THE THINGS PEOPLE HAVE had to endure. Only to line their pockets.demons walk the earth.
Heartbreaking. And to think, i know women in their early 30’s, currently, that have served and are dealing with these type unfortunate, life changing, loses. Righ down to the undeveloped body organ and numerous other disabilities that the child would not survive. Im speechless.
This is shocking! How do these ppl get away with this, murder! It’s not of God Almighty! They will answer! These babies will be redirected! ❤ God is not asleep! They will pay! 😢😢😢
Don’t you know what happens in the Military stays in the Military and they also play on the good Ole boys system.
As a military wife of a patriotic, loyal man who proudly joined the US Navy @17yrs old in 88′ & served 20+ yrs. I am absolutely mortified that this happened. As the sister of a Marine who was stationed at Camp LeJeune, I am literally sick to my stomach right now. I want to address all my sister military wives, had we been given orders to Camp Lejeune instead of NAS/JAX ~This could have easily been our story. We are taught as military wives to support & not to question our husbands commanding officers. They could literally get reprimanded if we did. So we are left to trust the very ones who were intentionally lying about our safety at home while our husbands gave their very FREEDOM to protect everyone back home. TRULY SHAMEFUL. PEOPLE MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!!! Suing may help financially, especially to the lawyers who take more then they should.. BUT It is just going to come out of our taxpaying dollars & No one will BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE SO THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN!!!
So sad these military families pay the ultimate sacrifice in more ways than just on the battlefields. My heart goes out to all these families. Such a sickening battle these families are fighting.
This is like Erin Brokavich(spelling)
This is so very sad…while i was married we were military Army…i was called by a lady and questioned about camp lejune…told her i was not there…she did say ok thank you… We hung up…
Such a beautiful sisterhood. Racism has no place on this earth. There’s not room for it. May God bless each and every one of the families affected by this tragedy ❤
So sad….
This is sooo sad. I am sorry folks that you lost your children.
Who covered it up? Not watching it.
Well lawyers are on tv all the time for this helping ones who were their
It is unimaginable to think of the level of disrespect these women went through on so many levels! My heart goes out to them and the many others we didn’t see. Praying the pain, both physical & emotional, will be replace with love, joy & peace!
Much Love & Many Blessings! ❣🙏❣
Wow I was watching what our country did during the Waco siege and then clicked on this video. Guess Uncle Sam never thought their dirty laundry would ever be exposed. They can say what they want but the truth speaks for itself. When it comes to our government be afraid. Be very afraid.
Our country at its finest!
The women who lost their babies due to the negligence of the military (gov) deserve respect and answers. The fact that some of this Women don’t even know where their babies ended up its unacceptable. They served this country and the color of their skin shouldn’t have made a difference on where they were buried. We served in the Air Force and I assumed that when we served this country we were going to be treated equally. However, we dealt with disdain and contempt although, hidden under excuses and don’t rock the boat attitude. The government should make things right for this Soldiers and families.
Will not trust The Marine corp how could you marine corp do this to americans
What an appalling and heartbreaking episode in our history. I think of these mothers living with their grief and guilt (for circumstances beyond their control), and I think of the authoritarian military system and the military men of rank who failed to protect and defend the soldiers in their charge and their families for decades.
These men of rank were protected by privilege and power. And silence.
I’m grateful for every person named (and unnamed) who fought for accountability and justice for so many decades.
I can’t help but wonder about their failure to defend unborn life, or to defend a woman’s right to prenatal care. Are these same men and men like them now criminalizing a woman’s right to life-saving reproductive care? Are they demanding a woman carry a dead or unviable fetus to term in the name of the sanctity of life regardless of the threat to the mother’s own life? Clearly, these mothers and their children weren’t protected.
What does it say that white babies’ graves were marked while black babies were ‘never recorded’?
Racism. Misogyny. Power. Privilege.
We have to listen and to work for justice as these heroes did. It’s work we can’t do without the tools of democracy.
I’m heartsick. I’ve heard about class action lawsuits concerning this, but I have never heard Real stories. All prayers for all of them.
I was born in Sweden 1976, it makes you think. If I would been born there, I probebly would be dead. How could they do this and sleep good at night? I taught that marines had honor and dignety??

I was there ! I can remember being @ Camp Lejeune. On the 4th of July!JUST out of boot camp(Parris Island 1/29 1980-1/27/1984).We had a 3 day weekend leave!Did my 4 year contract(3 yrs 11 months 27 days to be exact)got out.I keep getting these letters!Don’t ask me how U. Sam knew I was there as I have no idea but asking me if I had any of the following symptoms……………..but by the gace of God I was only there 2 weeks at best and am fine. Those poor poor people my God! I would later go on to re enlist in a National Guard Unit.Later ended up relocating so transffered to a combat engineer unit in West Virginia where I would end up doing 2 tours(2 yrs) in Iraq.2003-2004 & 2007-2008.Wow! Retired now.Seek out Jesus and His word/Holy Bible……
I Truly believe all your babies spirits went on to the Arms of Jesus and You will see them again as long as you truly believe.
I have similar issues. I should have 12 children. I have 1 that was born 1 year before we were stationed there. Since leaving there I’ve been through kidney issues, multiple miscarriages and still births and have autoimmune diseases and major arthritis throughout my body. I’m now in my mid 50’s and declining & disabled since 2009.
The cutoff should extend past 1987. I was there from 1991-93.
Crystal is such a sweetheart I really wish I could be her friend
Anyone know the number to call to file? Was there from 1975 to 1981. I have many different illness. We where kids we played outside drank straight from the hose.
You can easily find out online.
I cried.😢😢😢😢😢
I have two brothers who are Marines and had been stationed there during those times. One brother has been battling cancer for years. He worked on base for 32 years. Retired MST Gunnery SGT. My other brother is battling an undetermined illness at this time. Doctors are working on what his illness could be.
God Bless our past, current and future military men and women
#JUSTICEFORALL
This is heartbreaking and to be honest infuriating because we are able and willing to help other country’s but the people who fought for ours are suffering 😤 They are homeless, hungry, suffering from ptsd and yet receive NOTHING for the sacrifice they made for us to keep our families safe. I’m so sorry and just wanna say Thank you from the bottom of my heart 🫡
The famous Camp Lejeune. I keep getting emails in my spam folder about Camp Lejeune. Now I see why.
🫂💔🫂💔
I know my tears will never not flow, but justice and love awaits us all in Heaven.
Awww they are sisters for life 🧬 beautiful in the end❤ but still horribly sad 😢
How sad this is! God bless the mommas of the lost babies in Baby Heaven! My heart breaks for you all ❤
American has never cared about its citizens
My husband was at camp lejune in the late 80s and was diagnosed at Age 42 with prostate cancer.Terrible place Camp Lejune
These women have been treated shockingly, especially the non-white women who don’t even have a grave to go to see. How inhumane! Somebody needs to be held accountable for this, yet I won’t hold my breath. They will continue to cover it up. Absolutely awful – yet these were people prepared to serve their country.
Shame on the government and all responsible for this. You knew about it, yet covered it up and treated those affected by it in a terrible way.
