Marwan Bishara on global divide between war and peace camps after 8 months of Gaza war

Al Jazeera’s senior political analyst, Marwan Bishara, commented on the United Nations Security Council meeting regarding the war in Gaza. Bishara noted the powerful speech by Palestinian representative Majed Bamya, who vividly described the suffering of Palestinians and the dehumanisation they endure. He emphasised the stark contrast between the Israeli and Palestinian narratives, highlighting the zero-sum game often presented by Israel. Bishara observed that the Palestinian representative advocated for peace, ceasefire, and negotiations, while the Israeli stance focused on the necessity of war. This dichotomy between the war camp and peace camp was evident at the Security Council and reflected globally. Bishara also remarked on the influence of global peace activists, including Jewish activists, on the Palestinian discourse, challenging the exploitation of anti-Semitism and the Holocaust to justify ongoing conflict.
