United Nations chief Antonio Guterres has renewed his demand for a ceasefire in Gaza and said that international law was being violated in the war between Israel and the Palestinian armed group Hamas. The United States has finalised its United Nations Security Council resolution. It calls for all measures necessary such as ‘humanitarian pauses’ and allows for ‘humanitarian access to Gaza’. A key sticking point has been the call for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas – which does not appear in the US resolution.
