Maybe I’m not remembering things correctly from my time in the Marines, but even high ranking NCO’s don’t know several months in advance that they’re going to be deployed. Higher level officers and government officials with top secret clearances might be privy to that but they don’t give troops several months of time to dwell on the fact they’re going to combat. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong. At least he didn’t flat out avoid combat by claiming to have bone spurs. Either way independents aren’t going to base their vote on someone’s military accomplishment, the military is overwhelmingly conservative and you’re not going to convince Trump supporters that Trump isn’t the reincarnation of George Washington and Jesus Christ, I don’t think this issue is going to be that important and no one will be talking about it in a few weeks.

SV Walz claimed rank of Command Seargent Major for two decades in print campaign solicitation, on his campaign website, claimed he was highest ranking veteran in U.S. House of Representatives. He was demoted upon retirement to lower rank of Master Seargent because he did not complete course work and time of 3 years served in that rank to be conferred that rank. Multiple times in media appearances and in campaign material characterized his service in a way that implied he served in combat zone when he was serving in Italy. This was brought to attention of his office and was not corrected. His direct report Command Seargent Doug Julin details Walz (CNN interview w/ Coates) was given advance notice of deployment, he committed he was going, then went around back of Julin to higher ranking officer to submit his retirement. Man who replaced him in command of 500 troops, said he as well as 98% of troops viewed Walz as having abandoned Iraq deployment, regardless if he was technically able to submit paper. If he ever wore his military uniform post retirement with Command Seargent Major insignia, he was violating Military AR 670-1-19 Code section. He should never occupy position next in line to Commander in Chief of US Armed Forces. He abandoned Minneapolis to rioters who burned it down and delayed deploying National Guard and abandoned his command to Iraq. He does not demonstrated leadership character to protect and defend in heat of battle. His comment ‘in war’ was a sequential comfortable continuation of two decades of deception, not a one off remark.
