I agree, they should have been way more informative.
When they say the majority of West Nile cases are asymptomatic, there are referring to the fact a minority (1 in 5 people) infected can develop West Nile Fever. The fever is symptomatic and it can take you down for days if not weeks (and can be deadly in rare cases).
I had West Nile as a child and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t lift my head, it was awful. Still the worst virus I’ve ever experienced and I’ve had a few.
Wear bug spray and protective gear, look out for fever and fatigue. Stay safe.
