Malaysian Airlines isn’t the only airline struggling with manpower and supply chain constraints, but it’s been hit harder than others in the past few months — “something obviously went wrong here,” said Sobie Aviation’s Brendan Sobie.
Problems at Malaysian Airlines reached a ‘breaking point,’ says aviation specialist

is it boeing?
no, stop blaming. they scaled too fast and wanted to show profit too eagerly.
May be a factor but other airlines also fly Boeing but don’t have the same rate of incidents, at least in terms of frequency.
they also grounded their airbus planes.
With 6 or 7 incidents last couple of months, are we seeing safety being compromised here? Skipping scheduled maintenance?
Does it matter if it is B or AB?
Either way it suck cause when any airline bought from them, they bought the product, signed the contract for parts and services, management procedures and protocols. And things go south, they will put the blame on ‘Human Error’ not withstanding that their (ie B’s&AB’) procedures and op manuals were several gen ago and were never update when they sell you new planes but will provide you with out dated parts (ie clearing warehouse of old and redundant part!!! 😮😮😮😮😮
They just cancelled another flight 3hrs ago from Seoul to KL
The management must be jailed for utter incompetence
Never happen they are protected spices, they perfer to hire the right one even if they are not qualifies
Pilot and Engineer underpaid, so people leave, and management say 1 leave, 10 will come, but they cant get the number
My company said that too.
If you’re someone whose part of management you shouldn’t believed in those words. Saying 1 leave but 10 will come is rather stupid to believe. Nowadays nobody wants to get a job with low salary. Having a job with a lot of responsibilities with many duties that doesn’t even within their supposed job scope combined with low pay will cause graduates to turn away and look for a better offer. In Malaysia that is exactly happening right now. Senior technician would go away to other companies or outside countries that offers better pay while newer employees are left with almost nobody to train them. Just last month alone I heard 63 employees from the same company quit their jobs to go elsewhere. Clearly something is wrong here. Maybe the management is also to blame but they will never admit to the public…
Yeah… The one who leave was some 10 to 15 years exp technician/engineer who master the working culture and system in MAS….and the 10 that coming is fresh graduate from some approved training organization who only just have at least 6 month to 2 years exp working with life aircraft… So yeah……u got the situation now..
Nuor got numbers!….every corner of the world😂!
Yep, they have changed 2 of our flights to Japan in November already. 🤞
Disaster waiting to happen unless they so a proper check on all of their aircraft. Passenger will also have no confidence flying with Malaysian airlines anymore. Too many problem of late
Why u dare not comment on Malay policy.
Political parties and royalty connection want jobs here because of free tickets once year.
Poor quality staff and ff😊
royalty want jobs as engineer??😂
u look at mas BOD there is at least 5 chinese there.
Rasis…
what’s all the fuss !!! … go for All India Airlines !!! … they are great 😃👍 to fly 🕊️ with !!!
Indian Airline hired all Indian..go there then 😅
@@nasigorengtomyam7452They don’t want to hear facts but lies 😂😂
The name of the airline is Malaysia Airlines NOT Malaysian Airlines.
Go get a life. Nit picking
Pedant
They act like that because the government is backing them, so there are incentives to buck up.
Dont believe the white man..they are just being jealous of the unsuccessful success of non whites😂
In USA it is called DEI hire. It is somewhat similar. Incompetent people are always given important positions
DEI prioritizes minorities, in Malaysia the minorities are sidelined.
They are the chosen one and If you are talented, it depends on where you come from 😅 and if you are not qualify they will hire you because you came from the right side 😂
@@user-hq3fg1wb4q priority those from Insititut of Aga Aga Technologi !
The international body should suspend the operation of mas to prevent a major accident from happening because the probability is getting higher.
The fact that they cut back their flight capacity is a good sign. It shows they are concerned about safety. I’m more worried with airlines that keep quiet.
A friend who was once a MAS employee who is currently working for another national airline in the Middle East has been active as a part time agent scouting for talents within MAS for years to work for his current employer. The pay is at least double than what MAS pays them. The shortage issue within MAS either in terms of staff or parts is real
not only that, the fares for MAS are so so expensive… 1 Business Class ticket KL-London, u can purchase 2 Business Class on Qatar / Emirates Airlines..n the Arab airlines have better services..
all Arab Gulf aviation industry is heavily subsided by their respective governments … check their cost structures …
@@SamsudinMohdAlithat’s is good news for consumers.
@@4ndrew4w44Except they promote unfair competition
@@SamsudinMohdAli the no 1 cost in managing airlines would be fuel. So yeah those middle east airlines get to enjoy much lower expenses on fuel.
Talk about service is suck
So many airlines in Middle East/Gulf region actively scouting and poaching Malaysian crews and engineers because of their multilingual skills and cultural similarities. Now Singapore Airline is doing the same. Malaysians will always go for the better pay..
AirAsia seems doing good though. Both Malaysian based so something ONLY wrong with Malaysian airlines🤔
Cause nobody headhunt AirAsia? Cause AirAsia took part in headhunting Malaysia Airlines? Cause AirAsia has a single aircraft model type, hence better resiliency in terms of parts supply? Cause Airbus new aircraft supply is better than Boeing?
Malaysian Airlines was a net loss for a decade until 2022 they managed to make their 1st net profit. Their management has been doing fine, this is just a small hiccup (i.e. better to cancel flights than to make a loss. Also, American Airlines cancel passengers flights too). CNBC didn’t report the profit making part nor give credit to the huge improvement Malaysian Airlines made to their $.
@@yewjin6107are u yewjin from craveat?
Actually year if government aids make them lazy
Revamp the whole management before something happens. Malaysia government needs to do it immediately.
Hello cannot they are the prince of earth don’t play play after you hurt yourself 😅
Don’t worry, they will find other incompetent people from the same stock to ruin the company 😅
Says unqualified person who got ditched for the position he’s not qualified for 😊
Most of the workers in Malaysian Airlines are muslim malays . MAS wont employ indians ,chinese who are highly qualified thats why MAS failed. Racism, extremism, radical ideology only lead to bankruptcy
In the hands of Malay’s Operations. Should let the management lead by professionals.
Wrong, the ceo is not malay
what in the bloody racist was this statement? if you dont understand the situation shut the heck up or speculate some logic.
CEO is Ahmad Lugman Mohd Azmi. Cannot put Chinese as it against the sacred rules in a Malay land.
Lol it’s why the name itself is MALAYsia Airlines, not CHINESEsia Airlines as your name suggests 😂
So ms wendy, cathay & scoot are facing somewhat similar problems, now are they being managed by your so-called malay operations? 😂
If the plane is not safe, do not put passengers…..it’s ridiculous & dangerous…..what happened to MH350
First, it’s not MH350. Second, no one knows what is the true cause of MH370 incident. Third, the fact that they take the initiative to cut 20% capacity means they play safe. I’m more worried with airlines that keep quiet.
@@jamesu6241 yup and don’t forget MH17 shot down in Ukraine….
@@yohanag3408 It was British Airway and Singapore Airlines planes right before and after MH17 when the missile struck. They were all on the same flight path. Could have been any one of them.
@@jamesu6241 missile have target locking, it’s not like heat seeking…
@@yohanag3408 Based on intercepted conversation, the rebel thought it was a Ukrainian military plane. They could have picked up any other civilian planes on the flight path at above 6km altitude
Only chosen people are hired to work in the airline from top to bottom it’s a disaster waiting to happen
They still have not addressed the MH370 issue or closure for families.
Pretending that this flight to nowhere did not happen.
Accept responsibility and give closure to all families.
Similarly with MH17 playing games till the problem goes away.
Malaysia Airlines should be shut down due to bungling incompetence and corruption.
MH 370 IS MONEY INSIDE THE BOX OF MANGOESTERN 4.7 TON ( NOTE NOTE RM100.00 0R USD 100.00 YOU CAN CALCULATE !!!!
Hello…those 2 incidents got nothing to do with current crisis
MH 17 ??? THEY REVENT !! THEY CANNOT REACH ME WITH MH 370 ( KAMIKAZE) TO ME WHILE I WAS SLEEPING THAT NIGHT WITH HELP GPS ON THE TRUCK , THEY SEE MY PASSPOT PICTURE AT THE FOREX BROKER SEMILIAR WITH THE PILOT PICTURE !!!!
Sadly they both do and point to systemic issues that MAS have had for a long time….the tip of the iceberg.
Thank goodness Air Asia is NOT under MAS. Or the same problems will arise too. Why ? Corruption & hiring unqualified clowns . Malaysia’s best legacy
Nah…. Media just don’t really take much Interest in digging deep into AirAsia. MAS on the other hand are so called Nation flag carrier. Fund by khazanah who is part of gov. So yeah media interested and Malaysian people will respond.
The main problem is 1 race malay supremacy policies, greed and corruption deeply rooted for the past many decades, worst has yet to come.
Can you prove how is Malay supremacy is responsible for MHs’ maintainance woes
Lol so similar issues faced by cathay & scoot are also about malay supremacy?
So many experts here.
This happen because of nepotism. They have incompetent leaders in the company.
The Malay are bad in management,
Aviation industry has always been a difficult business 😢.. Having said that I still prefer Malaysia Airlines over Air Asia or Batik…
MAS is bleeding tax payers
The board of directors are the issue. Cronies. Also the race issue is always there like proton the “national” car now partially owned by geely
Good journalism 👍
For sure they skipped the maintenance to appear profitable
My family just cancelled our tickets we bought to fly to india in November.
But MAS is deducting RM1800 from refund 🤦🏼
Madani govt is bad governer
Malaysia Airline problem went as far back as 30 years ago, In 1994 Mahathir sold it to Tajudin in the name of privatisation. When Tajudin failed Mahatir bought it back at the same price in 2001.
When rm 1 companies got the maintenance tender with low level of competent workers and only the supreme spcies should get all the works in mas,
Just let Msian Chinese take over !
See they can handle all problems or not sir?
🤣😜
Huge spikes in demand travel post covid plus late aircraft deliveries. Keep in mind ongoing technical issues too with boeing aircraft.
Other airlines that have cut back in cabin crews are now opting for pinching personnel as the quickest means to meet an increase in passengers . Think Emirates, Singapore, and Qatar airlines.
Malaysia Airlines in-flight services are extraordinarily homey and friendly. Despite its many challenges.
Those who opt for just cheap fares go to the budget airlines like jetstar , scoot and airasia but these are just like bare minimum coach / bus services. You just have to rough it up if your consideration is just lowest cost a to b. Once one is used to full service legacy airlines like Malaysia Airlines one tend to avoid these sardines’ flights. Bad experience.
Malaysia Airlines is still very much preferred for frequent fliers with flexible budget.
Do not forget Qantas, Cathay Pacific, and a host china based airlines are in similar situations. Except we don’t hear much, especially the China based airlines.
Surveillance inspection is required to prevent something occur
It os not safety concern you racist white people
This is just part of blackrock plan to take over MAB and MAS.. create problem and offer solution😂😂😂
your talent is wasted if you don’t write fictions
@jamesu6241 the fiction that become reality soon.. just wait and 👀
Yes, indeed!!
Malaysian Airlines will be gone soon 😮
We cannot seem to manage anything properly. Look at Proton-still assembling Chinese cars.
Only 🇲🇾 Airlines has this issue ? It only says something is not right in the management .
Nope cathay & scoot also are facing somewhat similar issues, read more
They want to sabotaj this Airlines ….to make other airline popular. Need micro check…human check also
..to who they are working. Discreet check May give some clue
Flash out the top level management.
These is all about business….about whos going to make money ….should and already know
If nothing drastically and swift change in MAS management, the worst is yet to come. MH 370 n MH 17 are not the worst
The big issue is that Malaysians are employed by the colour of their skin and not merit or actual ability. Such that MAS has at least 6000 employees that would never be employed by any other airline.
Merit and working ability should be the starting point and not race.
Cathay & scoot are now facing somewhat similar problems so now what color of the skin are their people then? 😂
No worry msia gov got tons of money….. to pay for msia airline.
Just closed the mas as we already got air Asia butik and many others
Ceo buy secondhand plane to get profit…there markup the price….after 1 year delay …many of mas plane came from europe..usuless 737..pilot told me ..he flies fly tomb
Yes, free market. They poach the best in education. MAS is left with “engineers” from Instituts of Aga Aga Technologi ! so your failure.
