US gov don’t send Ukraine money, but they send them material that was made decades ago. Can you explain how a bullet or shell made in the 90’s would have helped the hurricane victims ? Even cowardly US politicians are blocking the resale/relocation of current generation equipment purchased by other European countries to Ukraine.

Ventusky says Milton reached Florida as a cat 1 hurricane, with winds of 124 km/h. Ventusky said that the media over reports wind speeds by using airplane based measurements and by cherry picking wind gust speeds rather than by using sustained wind speed measurements measured at 10 m above the ground which is how hurricanes are supposed to be measured and categorized. I’ve always found Ventusky to be spot-on accurate and it’s trusted worldwide as well.
Accurate information is critical both for disaster preparedness as well as for disaster response and recovery.

Barrier islands consist entirely of sand that’s pretty much at sea level. They exist along both the Gulf and Atlantic coasts, and they should never have been built on…but they were, going back maybe 200 years by now. Hurricanes and large storms will send water flowing entirely over them, not to mention the regular erosion of sand due to normal ocean currents and waves. The losses of property and money – and sometimes lives – is not going to stop.

I live near the coast in Florida and I would never ask or accept government money to rebuild my home. If I decide to insure and some company is foolish enough to agree then that is where the money will come from. No insurance company should offer to insure coastal homes and the government (either state, local or federal) has zero business or say in the matter.

Not just the States. I live near South China Sea the past 14 years. The wind and rain are growing more and more intense and damaging. The heat is getting hotter over the years and seasonal fruit trees are bearing fruits anytime they want to. I just sold my hilltop house and plan to sell my house near the beach in the near future, too high risk. I saw a beach house without roof the other day. The climate is changing before our very eyes.
