Why do business with a Country like Canada which is your neighbour. Let’s buy from other third-world countries with cheap labour.
Why do business with a country like the USA which is dangerously unstable?
@@PeterLorimer-ji5utagreed 100%. The US can’t keep its word to the world, to its allies and supposed friends. Its credibility is gone for at least a generation, but realistically more. For a country like Canada, which is export oriented, it means we desperately need to diversify away from the US, which in an ideal world frankly isn’t in their interest or ours. But there you go.
hahahaha! because under NAFTA you didn’t pay any taxes, duties or levies. Not to mention the dollar difference of 30%. Not to mention all the pipelines, infrastructure already built between the countries, not to mention the non-disclosure agreement for military and such, not to mention drinking water as Canada is the largest source of fresh water in the world, not to mention trees because you have none, not to mention minerals, not to mention all the American companies allowed to operate in Canada for this stuff. But Americans sure do love to tax themselves. LOL
because Canada won’t stand up for themselves@@SamWitney
@@donwest5387 We don’t have to as Americans love to tax themselves on what was free goods. This is what Trump did last time around. Answer this, what is better then tax free? LOL!
orange Jesus only knows how to bankrupt
Yes Trump derangement syndrome is real.
The use of coal is still quite prevalent around the world. I was surprised when the Dominican Republic had a huge coal fired plant built in around 2017. It was said that it was due to the easy and reliable availability of coal. I’m not certain that it wasn’t some consideration in respect of a 92 million dollar bribe paid by the builder, Odebrecht. They operate around the world.
hilarious interview. This guy telling us that their green energy plan is to start using more coal plants and that their green plan will take many many years to implement is like selling us horse buggy and that cars are far far away in the future while Ford is producing the model T.
If you cannot do a deal with canada for Aluminium , with who you will deal ??? Russia, china UAE … I guarantee you nobody will switch supply lines, they will all pay the 25% and pass the increase to the next level of manufacturing
It didn’t work last time, and it won’t work this time. Us Canadians are starting to wonder how dumb Americans can get and why you keep taxing yourselves. Under the original free trade agreements American companies could operate in Canada and basically pay no taxes, no duties or levies and send back and forth as many times as they want from Canada to U.S. Trump came in and put in a new NAFTA which now costs Americans more because it’s not free anymore. LOL!! The reason why you get your materials like aluminum from us is because you don’t want anyone to know what your building and under NAFTA anything military is confidential. If you get materials from somewhere else you would have to disclose what they are for and then there is a real risk of countries finding out what U.S is doing. Trump is a moron just costing more to American’s for no reason.
During the last Trump term, there was a tariff on Canadian aluminum and it hardly affected the Canadian producer at all. The US manufacturers in several States that rely on the Canadian aluminum were hurt pretty badly. Americans figured that if they pushed some buttons and pulled some levers in US mills that were idled in the 1970s would be spitting out made-in-usa metal the next day. Besides there are two components of aluminum: boxite and LOTS of electricity. Canada has no boxite but Americans cannot compete with Canada’s huge electric production.
@@PeterLorimer-ji5ut ‘bauxite’
it is pretty clear from what twitchy dude says in the video that the Middle East (desperate to diversify its economy) and Indonesia have set up dirty fuel aluminium production that will be profitable and USA-market-ready once the price rises because of the tariff. Pretty sure all of Trumps tariffs are custom designed to scratch the backs of a whole bunch of Trump-pandering a-holes around the world, national security and Western allegiances be damned.
@SailorGerry Gesundheit!
Whats funny is many of mills and mines in Canada are owned by US companies. Like ALOT
So are those offshore manufacturers who sent those American jobs to cheaper places.
Funny how none of these so called experts never mention complying with border security, not a n unreasonable ask,.Most Canadians have been requesting this for years, but our leader is more concerned with pronouns, and letting terrorists into our country.
Sounds like good news for our hydro powered aluminium plant here in New Zealand! A Green Premium etc….. Laurie. NZ. 😊
given the intent of the tariffs is enabling Trump cronies in Indonesia and the Middle East to sell dirty aluminium produced with fossil fuels by jacking up the market price, I wouldn’t count on NZ avoiding aluminium tariffs for long. Canada produces aluminium cheaply because of the extensive hydro power near bauxite import points in BC and Quebec.
I don’t really think he will be allowed to plunge the world into a terminal depression… but he certainly has the potential…
I hear candles have a double purpose. Light and heat. Good luck with that.
Trump is going destroy America
Be careful who you piss off. Just because Canada exports a lot the the US now doesn’t mean that they will always do so. If the US is going to be an unreliable trade partner and violate trade agreements whenever they want Canada (and the rest of the
World) will look for more reliable trading partners. Canada exports raw materials, items any country in the world would be happy to have.
Fertilizer. I’m sure the brothers that own the large fertilizer plant just outside of my Canadian city being caught in the middle of this nonsense. I’m only using Koch as an example. Just remember you won’t get the deals we give from abroad. I’m still trying to figure out where you will go to replace 60% of the oil you use. Play silly games, win silly prizes. Export/excise taxes, are just as useful as a tariff in this situation.
Canada’s strength is our resource commodities. The only way any of this is profitable for the U.S.A. is if their manufacturing is ramped up and expanded. This can’t be done if the supply chain is in havoc. If Canada finds new trading partners the U.S. is screwed. Canada can’t beat the U.S. in a trade war but I don’t think the U.S. can win one either.
Who is the grampa in the middle living in the past
Duke Power of NC owns Ontario Hydro. Don’t kid yourself.
this dude is not Ontario Hydro, he’s “Hydro” a US aluminium company … which is apparently about to produce it’s aluminium overseas … with fossil fuels. And Duke Power does not own Ontario Hydro, which ceased to exist in 1998 and was replaced by a few crown corporations.
Duke does not own Ontario Hydro (Hydro One) – it is a publicly traded company.
