Remember anyone who doesn’t have insurance been hospitalized will get a massive bill no offense, my husband got $25,000 but we were looking a week before he had gotten lay off so we’re able to apply for any other health insurance.
This is what I’m truly scared about. I’m more afraid of the medical bill than actually getting the virus.

This is the main reason I do not want to live in US. If you get very sick, you’ll also get poor. This won’t change unless the US develop a standard healthcare system (the core should not be controlled by private companies, should be mostly public). Currently healthcare changes every time a new president is elected. Also, politicians should stop protecting healthcare companies by not accepting money from them because all they think is profit not welfare of people.

I called 911 for paramedics 1 ride to hospital cost me 1200$ 15mins away from my apartment plus the Bill’s from the hospital .. I dont have insurance I only make 1000$ every 2 weeks for taking care of homeless people ( elderly)

4 years ago I had a panic attack at 1:00 in the morning. My wife took me to the ER cause I thought I was having a heart attack. I refused calling ambulance because of how much ambulance costs. I was in the hospital for about 45 minutes only for a doctor to tell me it’s panic attack and I’m okay. A month later I received a bill for $5000 even with insurance. The hospital was “in-network” but the on-call emergency doctor was not…
Wait, the same Healthcare system that had a man arrested and all of his N95 masks confiscated because he was price gouging – BUT it’s A OK for them to price gouge patients 🤔. I think it’s time for a fresh clean start in this awful country!

Over a year ago my adult son lost his long-time job in a merger, also losing his health coverage. The great Trump job market was brutal, took months to get a $12/hr job, no health benefits kicking in for 3 months. Meanwhile he had a flareup of a preexisting condition, couldn’t work, lost his job. Elderly mom & dad (me) paying for doctors and Rx’s. Eventually he got better and In early March was hired for another job, still with no health coverage. Worked 2 days, was sent home for sneezing from allergies, and then “furloughed.” He’s sick again, no health coverage, not eligible for unemployment benefits or Medicaid.
Well in Wuhan, some bloggers are saying the cost for a mild case in a temporary hospital with doctors and nurses, daily medical treatment, blood tests, CT, etc. and 3 meals daily, for 20 days before full recovery, is about 3,000USD. And for serious case requiring ventilators, the cost grows up to 15-20kUSD. For ICU, it can go up to 100-150kUSD. Luckily the central government is paying the full bill after general medical insurance coverage. So not a single patient of COVID-19 needs to worry about the cost.
Not cheap, in any part of the world. The difference is only on government’s priority. Sorry to say, but America values the economical benefits higher than human lives. You can see Trump and his administration that they call a success if the death toll is below 60,000. A SUCCESS! That’s why they need a scapegoat urgently. So China and WHO are on target.
here in Philippines covid19 test and treatment are free and for those who unfortunately died due to covid19 get cremated for free too. were a poor country but our government cares for its people. those who are not infected and no work as of the moment get food rations distributed by our locals. some businesses get bit of money as compensation for closing and some company are still paying their employees though we are in total lockdown. supermarkets, our local farmers market, pharmacy, gas station are all open to cater to people who need to get out to buy food and medicine

As someone who works as an offshore call center representative for a US based insurance account, I say that YES the system itself is terribly expensive and overpriced. I sometimes think that doctors and patients are being ripped off by insurance companies. It’s sad. 😔

In Italy the treatment of Covid19 is free. In Usa the healthcare is private. But its officially emergency situation, now is the biological war, so the government should take all costs. But as the medical system is private, that’s a BIG problem. You Americans should vote for politics who could change healthcare system to belong to the state.
Make China pay for Covid-19. Literally send them the bill for our medical costs. They let 5 million fly out of the hotzone without any testing or quarantine. China infected the rest of the world on purpose.

Of course taxes go towards covering people in a universal health care system….which is exactly where peoples taxes should be going, towards; the peoples healthcare and education. Whats better, having peoples taxes supply something that benefits all of society (most importantly the actual taxpayers) or something that benefits corporations and the wealthy?
