At least 75 dead in Ecuador prison riots, dozens injured

0 Riots have broken out at three separate prisons in Ecuador, leaving at least 75 inmates dead. Officials blamed the riots at detention facilities in the cities of Guayaquil, Cuenca and Latacunga on disputes between rival gangs. Hundreds of police are trying to regain control of the prisons , which are home to 70 percent of the country’s inmate population. UN: 110 civilians killed in Nigeria attack

The United Nations says at least 110 civilians have been killed and many more injured in an attack in Nigeria’s northeast. Funerals have been held for some of the dozens of farm workers killed while working in rice fields. Local officials blame Boko Haram fighters for the violence. Several others are thought to have been kidnapped – the UN is calling for their immediate release. Tales of abuse as Bangladeshi female workers return from the Gulf

Rights groups say thousands of migrant workers in Gulf countries, mostly working as domestic help, are at risk of bad working conditions and physical and sexual assault. In November last year, dozens of Bangladeshi female workers sent a video message from Saudi Arabia pleading for help and asking to be rescued.
